Hi all; When I access the data hosted in that share using others mount ways (except the smbmount/mount.cifs/mount -t smbfs/mount -t cifs) all works fine, downhere a benchmark: 1) Transfer a 500 mb file: netcat - 27 seconds ftp - 31 seconds smbclient - 38 seconds mounted (cifs) - 2:58 minutes I'm having a big problem with delay mounting a share using smbmount or mount -t cifs. Voicemail with NFS (working, I think)
I'm using a stand-alone VM server and exporting the VM files ro for MWI function only. All my registration servers mount the remote NFS share just to check MWI, all read-write functions to the VM files occur on the VM server only. On the registration servers, I mounted the remote VM share with this in my fstab.conf: 10.10.14.124:/var/spool/asterisk/voicemail /mnt/vmserver nfs

dosemu, not WINE, to run 16 bit DPMI
Some days ago, I asked for help running an old DOS program for a CA attorney. It seemed to have a problem with 16 bit DPMI. While we have had to (temporarily, I hope) compromise and use a licensed copy of DOS 6.22 to run it with dosemu, it runs perfectly on dosemu. Instead of usind a hdimage of freedos, which will not run the program, one creates a dir, /var/lib/dosemu/bootdir, and fills it

Dosemu and shorewall.
Hello.. I have a somewhat "funny" setup. I use the dosemulator Dosemu for running a dos based packetradio nodeprogram called Xrouter. I setup dosemu to use my eth1 (lan) nic and i bring up a device called dsn0. (this is all running on Slackware 9.1 without X) insmod /etc/dosemu/dosnet.o sleep 2 ifconfig dsn0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 route add -host 192.168.1.2 dsn0 dosemu <

New to wine question concerning Path Variable
Howdy, I am trying to run a Cobol Compiler through wine. I am running RH7.3 with a current wine release. My directory structure is /usr/share/wine-c/COBOL/. I have been successful in running other applications through wine, but not ones that require a PATH= entry. My problem is: it's looking for an entry in the PATH environment variable that includes 'C:\COBOL' which stores

Understanding re-sahring a NFS filesystem in Samba
Greetings, I made some search on Google regarding this matter and found many diverse information, some dated back to 2004, and would like to update and clarify this issue. The question is: "what's the problem on re-sharing a NFS filesystem with Samba?". The only way I found to share a NFS mount point on Samba without apparent problem is to disable file locking on NFS mount by

ANNOUNCE: cifs-utils release 4.5 available for download
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The rate of incoming patches has been pretty low lately, so it's probably a good time to do a new stable release and get what's queued up into people's hands... This release consists of a couple of bugfixes and some (hopefully) non-user-visible cleanups to the mount.cifs code. webpage: http://linux-cifs.samba.org/cifs-utils/ tarball:

COBOL
Just curious, maybe some old timers could help me out. I am working with a company that is migrating 20 years of Mainframe Software Development to Unix, HPUX. How much harder would it be to go to Linux, Centos Linux? Also, anyone have any experience with Fujitsu Cobol on Centos? The Fujitsu people only support Red Hat, and said I'd be on my own with Centos. In other words if it works,
