is there an activerecord method like "FIND EXISTING OR CREATE NEW IF NONE FOUND"?
Just wondering if rails has a method to look for an existing record and return it, but if it''s not existing then create a new record. (i.e. "FIND EXISTING OR CREATE NEW IF NONE FOUND"?) Then when finished updating one could use the existing "save" method which caters for either a new or updated record already Thanks

Concerning 'tagging proposal'
Hi, It is my opinion that a 'tagging standard' which aims to cater to everyone, caters to noone. Tagging style ultimately depend upon tagging tastes; I personally think it would be unwise to try to match everybody's tastes. Now, having a 'tagging proposal' instead of a 'tagging standard,' hardly seems worth the effort, to put it mildly. I doubt anyone would want to

reset "replace battery" flag
Hi, We have a HP R/T 3000 G4 UPS; according to the data returned by the usbhid-ups driver, it seems to be a "badge engineered" Eaton 5PX UPS LI R 3000. We have a stubborn "Replace Battery" alarm that stays despite: - physical battery replacement - successful quick battery test, started by upscmd - successful deep battery test, started by upscmd - successful battery test,

Draw plot.table axis on right hand side
With an ordinary plot, to customise the axis it is possible to suppress drawing the axis and then call Axis. I have been trying to change the location of the y-axis on a plot.table plot to the right hand side, but cannot even work out how to suppress drawing the labels. Here is a toy example of the sort of plot I am working with. Any suggestions as to how to have the axis on the right hand side

Creating pulldowns using loops
Creating looped pulldowns in PHP is simple so I can''t figure out why it seems to elude me in RoR. I want to create a simple pulldown list with the options and values "1" through "14." I have been trying to accomplish this with the .upto method like so: --START RHTML CODE-- <% options_array = [ 1.upto(14) {|i| print "[" i "," i "]"}

Dream Ledger
Hello Fellow Campers, I''m feeling crazy tonight and thought I''d go ahead and announce my new little project riding on the Camping framework: Dream Ledger (http://www.dreamledger.com). The app was written to scratch a personal itch, which is the simple fact that I wanted an easy way to record my nightly dreams and sleep experiences. Think about it as ''dream

[Samba 4.3.11] Changing GID of "domain users" - wbinfo shows still the old GID
Hi working on Ubuntu server 16.04.1 with Samba Version 4.3.11-Ubuntu I have an AD-DC and a Domain Member for file sharing All tests are OK. Loggon with remote profiles works. Today I changed (ldbedit) the GID of the Domain Users from 5000 to 10001 (No files will be generated with this GID. It is here only for wbinfo to work). The change was accepted. ldbsearch on the AD-DC shows the new GID of

[PATCH]: nchan.c : internal error: we do not read, but chan_read
Attached is the patch I've been using to fix the error message seen in the subject line. It seems (!) to have caused no problems with the previous openssh snapshot version openssh-SNAP-20001016, 2.3.0p1 and the latest snapshot (openssh-SNAP-20001114). The patch adds 3 lines to nchan.c in a switch stmt (line 100). It simply caters for the cases where the input channel state is

[LLVMdev] Remaining big-endian host issues in RuntimeDyld
Hi Lang, Thanks for your help at the Hackers Lab. Fixing the problems we identified in RuntimeDyldMachOARM.h improves the MachO_ARM_PIC_relocations.s test quite a lot but there's one failed check that's proving a bit stubborn: Expression '*{4}(stub_addr(foo.o, __text, baz)) = 0xe51ff004' is false: 0x4f01fe5 != 0xe51ff004 I'm struggling to find the cause of

XML parameters to Column Headers for importing into a dataset
Dear List, Do you know any way I can convert XML parameters into column headers. My data is in a csv file with each row containing a xml form of data , and multiple parameters ( <param1> data_val1 </param2> , <param2> data_val2 </param2> ) I want to convert it so each row caters to one record and each parameter becomes a different column. param1

specials issue, a heads up
I recently had a long argument wrt the survival package, namely that the following code didn't do what they expected, and so they reported it as a bug ? survival::coxph( survival::Surv(time, status) ~ age + sex + survival::strata(inst), data=lung) a. The Google R style guide? recommends that one put :: everywhere b. This breaks the recognition of cluster as a "special" in the

[Bridge] Bridge code enhancement (link state detection) and bug fix. (patches included).
1. Link state monitoring added. We discovered the following problem with the existing bridge code. The code doesn't monitor the link state of the interfaces. When using two cisco switches with two Linux bridging firewalls the following problem exists. When the Cisco switch that has the blocking (stp) Linux bridge attached dies, the Linux bridge no longer receives stp packets and changes

Friendly Reminder (OT)
Today, I had a tragic hard drive crash. I hadn''t updated anything to SVN in two weeks. I''m posting this here as a reminder to my beloved Rails community. Everyone, right now..... make a backup of your rails work. Make sure its on two disks. Many of you already do that automatically, but just make sure its working. Two near-release rails plugins were lost in the tragic crash

LDA and POP3/IMAP user_query
How do I get IMAP+POP3 vs. LDA to use different user_query statements? The problem is that the input fields are different. IMAP/POP3 is an email address LDA is a username I have written a long statement to try and cater for both however it still only works 99% of the time, and the remaining 1% fails. The 1% that fails sees the mail being delivered to the wrong mbox. In this particular case

Vector recycling and zoo
I am a bit confused about the different approaches taken to recycling in plain data frames and zoo objects. When carrying out simple arithmetic, dataframe seem to recycle single arguments, zoo objects do not. Here is an example > x <- data.frame(a=1:5*2, b=1:5*3) > x a b 1 2 3 2 4 6 3 6 9 4 8 12 5 10 15 > x$a/x$a[1] [1] 1 2 3 4 5 > x <- zoo(x) > x$a/x$a[1] 1 1 >
