working with the net commands... trouble.
So, to make it simple, my domain is KRH, I am successfully joined, and can issue wbinfo -u or wbinfo -g and get expected results. Every query I make about the domain works However, I'm trying to add a domain user (me) to my local Print Operators group on this freebsd machine. Using Samba 3.5.6, FreeBSD 8.1 Clean install of everything yesterday. So, I'm trying to add KRH\jdown to

Builtin group mapping problem with latest from git
Hi, I'm trying to run the latest samba from git for the first time in order to finalize a patch to submit for a bug that I've been working on. I'm running Fedora 11 and everything is tested and working on that with samba 3.4.2. I got the latest version from git (3.6.0) ran configure and make OK, and installed it. The built smbd and winbindd run fine, but trying to access the machine

Share management, user rights, core dump
Hi All, First post so I hope this is pitched right. I've been successfully using 3.6 as an AD authenticated (winbind) file server for a while, and decided to have a poke around with 4 (I'd read somewhere that someone had got zfs filesystems to work with full windows acls with samba 4). I've got as far as compiling 4.1.6 and setting up a similar share. Server role = member server,

winbind / trust questions and issues
I have two domains, one called CORP (which is 2003 AD) and the other is called LABS (which is running Samba 3.5.4-5.1.2). I have established bi-directional trust between them and most of the basic tests show apparent success. However there are a couple of issues left that I am trying to chase down. First issue is that I would like to filter out the local (LABS) users and groups in winbind if

OK,I'm In Trouble
Hi Everyone, I've been getting this error when trying to login from an XP box to a Samba 3 + LDAP PDC, but failed. Winbind - how to map ADS group to Unix group
I am running 3.0.10-1.4E on RHEL4. The machine is a ADS member server. I would like to statically map the ADS group "Domain Admins" to the built in "wheel" group so all members of "Domain Admins" are in the "wheel" group. I have looked at the username map option, but I don't want a group of users mapped to a UID (this would defeat what I am trying to

svcctl - access denied
I have a samba 3.0.23a server that is a member of a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain. I can use the Services MMC to see the services specified in the svcctl list option in smb.conf but trying to stop/start any services gives me an "Access Denied". I have tried this as a normal user as well as the domain Administrator account. I'm sure it's something I'm missing, but I

Security = ADS and 3.0.23 Upgrade
Since upgrading to 3.0.23 I have encountered several problems. (latest Debian Sarge with deb's from samba.org and security = ADS). All was working flawlessly before. *1.* getent passwd no longer lists machine accounts. *2.* On the Win2K pdc, the samba system's "DNS name" on the general tab is now listed as localhost.localdomain, and the operating system is still listed as

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.
