Samba shares lost from Windows/Mac after ~ 1 min
Hi, I have Samba 3.0.13 running on Suse 9.2 on an i586. I can browse and connect to the Samba shares on Windows XP and Mac OSX. However, about 1 min after connecting, the shares are lost and gone from the network environment - same for Windows XP and Mac OSX. The Windows shares mounted on the Linux machine work fine. Is this a know problem? Regards, Helge --- This is my smb.conf-file: #

samba 4 and nfs permissions
Hi We have AD users created with either samba-tool user add steve2 or using the windows AD frontend from a windows box. Users are created with home directories under /home/CACTUS On a win 7 client all works fine. "incorrect password length" when trying to domain-logon from XP to 2.2.3a
I'm trying to set up Samba 2.2.3a as a logon server for my Win2k/XP network. But when I try to join the domain with a XP Professional client (the SignOrSeal-Patch is installed, the other option in the management console is also set up) I get the error message "Login failed: unkown user name or wrong password" (translated from German) ... in the server's log there are the

webdav timeout
Hi, I tried to sync two files (50 MB and 100 MB) with my webdav folder using rsync 3.0.5 with Mac OS X (10.4.11) Terminal and X11. With the Terminal application the sync always failed with both files. With X11 I once was successful synchronizing the 50 MB file. The error message is always like this (also when I set the timeout to eg. 7200 seconds): io timeout after 1003 seconds --

smbtar multiple machines
Hi all, I'm just looking at using smbtar to backup the Win95 PC's on my network, and would like usability ideas please. The tape drive I intend to use is in our RS6000 and has a capacity of 20GB before compression which means that I will be able to fit plenty of PC's onto one tape as all the PC's have <3GB HD's on them. The problem I have is how do I get multiple

Packages in R and in S-PLUS

Actually, we'll be discussing tools to make packages in general that can work in both S-PLUS and R, and also how to make some S-PLUS-only libraries available in an open-source environment as well as working with package authors to port R packages to work in

Samba and AFS
I think I have come across what seems to be a bug in the interplay between Samba and AFS. I'm running 1.9.16p11 on an IBM RS/6000 (AIX 4.1.5) with the AFS support included (AFS 3.4a). The client machine is running Windows 95. I've created an AFS area which is writeable (rlidwk) to an AFS protection group. The group contains two AFS users, say user1 and user2. If user1 creates a file in

cross subnet browsing (win Xp problem)
I've got to networks connected through leased line, routing set between networks, WINS server running on Samba. There's one primary samba server, and Win98/WinXP clients connected to it. First network with samba server works great with win98 and winxp. Second network also works ok with win98 clients, but when I connect Winxp it can't even open "my network places" and show

dovecot+LDAP/AD encoding issue
Hello everybody, i have a problem with dovecot+Active Directory as Authentication-Service. I am not able to use special characters (???? (german umlaut)) within a password. Normally I would suggest that the ldap-query is done in UTF-8 but as I debugged the auth-process, I have seen that the password is ISO-8859-1 encoded. The "original" query (from roundcube for example) is UTF-8

Generating .R and .Rd files with Sweave/noweb?
I'm writing a couple of related functions, and I'd like to generate a (single) .R file (containing the function definitions), and separate .Rd files (documenting each function). Would this be possible with Sweave/noewb? Has anyone tried something along this idea? -- Regards, Bj?rn-Helge Mevik

pread and pwrite syscalls fix for 32bit arches, patch attached
Source: klibc Version: 2.0.2 Severity: important Tags: Patch On the hppa arch (32bit userspace and 32 or 64bit kernel), the fstype program fails to detect the filesystem. The reason for this failure is, that fstype calls the pread() syscall, which has on some architectures with 32bit userspace a different calling syntax. I noticed this bug on hppa, but I assume s390 (32bit) and others might run

Re: [cups.general] Re: Windows Clients keep finished jobs in Queue
I'm also seeing this problem. We're running samba 3.0.7 with CUPS 1.1.20. The clients printing are WinXP Professional SP1. The jobs printed are still displayed in the Windows printer status window, even though it's been printed already and disappears from the CUPS printer queue list.
