open failed (Too many open files in system)
I am running Samba 3.0.5 on OS X 10.3.8 Server. It's the stock Samba supplied by Apple with no modifications. I am running a variety of shares on the system to around 50 PC clients. I came into the office this morning with a dead Xserve... could not login, could not ping or ssh into the system. Users in the office could not even browse the network. When they tried to browse the

uninitialized constant Test
I recently upgraded to Rails 1.0 and started a new project. I''ve started writing some tests, but when I run rake, I just get the following... Amnesia:~/Development/Rails/pog shad$ rake (in /Users/shad/Development/Rails/pog) /usr/bin/ruby -Ilib:test "/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rake-0.6.2/lib/rake/rake_test_loader.rb" "test/unit/pog_test.rb"

Mac OS X Server 10.3: Monotonically increasing Samba processes?
Through my Server Admin, a graph of Samba "connected users" shows that the number of smbd server processes grows and grows without end -- processes never time out/log out and die. This was no problem under light usage, but when I moved a heavily used share to the server, the number of processes spun out of control. What made it all worse was that many of the supposedly dormant

ARC target support for jumps with LImm
Hello, I noticed that ARC target code is missing support for jumps with long (32-bit) immediate. Arithmetic and load/store operations for LImm are supported but jumps and branches are not present in the decoder tables and do not disassemble correctly. Is there a plan to add those in the future? Thanks! ilya -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Problems adding Win clients to domain
I'm not able to add Win clients to my domain anymore. I receive an error on the PC (2000 or XP): "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "[DOMAIN]": Logon failure: unknown user name or password." But I am able to log on to the server when accessing shares and printers. This error message only appears when joining the domain. And on the Mac OS X

browsing/nmbd problem - OS X
Hi, I would be very grateful if anyone could give me a bit of help with this. I am trying to run Samba 3.0.5, as distributed with Mac OS X server 10.3.8, on an Apple Xserve. Things were working beautifully until I had problems with an IP address change and had to reinstall everything. At present, the situation seems to be that the smb protocol is operating, since I can make an smb

Slow at loading large folder tree
The thing is, on the same machine, same net same moment, when I load the same folder from windows XP (through parallels) it takes like 10sec while samba 10min!!! MTU is 1500, set to match 100T devices like router and NAS on the LAN. Even on crossover cable it freaks out the same way. Btw my NAS is a Lacie Ethernet drive with linux based firmware and samba. Funny enough I load folders (ie

pvclust Error:NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call (arg 11)
Hi all, I'm new to R and I'm struggling to decipher an error message. Briefly, I am trying to use the pvclust package to do hierarchical clustering of some CGH data. The data is from the Progenetix CGH database. It is arranged as a table where each column is a single case and each row is a single chromosome band. The value in each cell is either 0, 1, 2, or -1. Corresponding to no change,

Windows 98 connection problems on MacOSX
I'm having problems connecting to a Samba server from my Windows 98 machine. Ultimately, I would like printing to work. But, I'm just trying to get the "homes" part to work first. Samba 3.x is running on a Mac OSX 10.4. I can connect using smbclient on both the Mac itself and on my Linux machine. For example, $ smbclient //mini/noelle works. It asks for a password, I type

pvclust missing values problem
Hello all, I posted a question to this list last week and received no response. I am unsure if this means no-one knows the answer or if I posed the question badly. I'm going to assume I posed the question badly and try again. I am new to R so it is quite likely it's a very naive question, however if there is something blindingly obvious that I am missing or if there is another resource I

Security risk to adding users to "Domain Admin" group
Hi everyone. Could anyone tell me what would be the repercussion of adding all users to "Domain Admins" in a samba environment. The reason I am asking is because we are getting a picker object error when trying to add "Domain Users" to the Local Administrator group. Domain Admin gets added ok during join. Thanks. -- Dominique

xpsp2 clients authenticate, W2ksp4 clients must use IP or FQDN

Server being kicked out of the domain every couple of days...
Hi there. Very particular issues here.. A few months ago, we migrated our authentication system to a MacOS 10.6 server mac mini. It acts as a KDC and Windows primary domain controller. No major problem there. Except that once a week our main file server (samba client, domain authentication) would deny any incoming connections. I found that issuing a net join command ; entering the admin

project "Sphinx" kicked off

Although you might want to choose another name since "Sphinx" is already used by CMU's open-source speech recognition engine (http://fife.speech.cs.cmu.edu/sphinx/).
