Samba 3 PDC > 3.3.4 broken with Win 7 RTM
I just installed Win 7 RTM (Release to Manufacturing), not RC nor Beta. After searching the archives I modified the required registry settings listed in other emails. I upgraded my Samba from the stock Centos 5.3 version to 3.3.7. Joining the domain worked, but I was unable to log in. I would get a 'Trust relationship denied' type error when trying to log in as a user of the domain.

can't copy files from Win2K RTM
I am running Win2K (RTM build 2195) and ever since RC2 I have had problems copying files from my Win2K machine to my RedHat 6.1 Linux (stock kernel 2.2.12-20) box. The Linux box is running Samba 2.0.6. I either get: J:\mail\archive\todo\dingo>copy dmail-122499 \\alder\mikenel Access is denied. Or I get a file with a funny character created on the box: [...] -rwxr--r-- 1 mikenel mikenel

Samba3 PDC and Windows 8 RTM
Hi there, I have just purchased a new PC that came with Windows 8 Pro (Shudder...). I have been trying to add this machine to my Samba3 based domain. I'm getting the following error when doing so: The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "<blah>":

Cannot make Windows join Samba domain
Hi, I'm having an issue trying to make a Windows machine sambaserveroin a Samba domain. Samba is running with LDAP backend (OpenLDAP). When I try to join the domain, Windows says that the machine account does not exist. The machine account, however, is successfully created in the LDAP directory after the join fails. When I try to join again, Windows says that the account already exists.

When I print the windows test page, I have something like "smiley" "arrow" "arow" "smiley" "arrow" name_of_the_samba_spool "smileys" driver.dll etc, etc, etc, on a single line. Did somebody used such a multifunction with Samba ? Below is a (long) description of what I did. I

problems with DFS
Hi, We have been a samba shop since way back and have used DFS quit a lot the last years. When we went with security ads instead of domain our dfs died. We have tried 3.028(sun) in solaris wich we are leaving and 3.2.1 in linux, our migration target. For our 3.2.1 installation the config looks liket this and the problem manifests itself as a empty share. [Global] kernel oplocks = False oplocks

The security id structure is invalid
I recently upgraded Samba on my DC from a working 4.3 installation to 4.5.0. Once done, I followed the instructions here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba#Fixing_replPropertyMetaData_Attributes and ran: samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --fix --yes After that, I can no longer access the shares on this machine. I get the "Security ID structure is invalid" error above. In

I can mount to myself mount -t //sambaserver/dir /test/samba this works fine...I even have username and passwords going through a win nt box. When I'm on a winnt4.x box I see sambaserver in the browse list but when I enter a "net view \\sambaserver" I get : No service is operating at the destination network

Using Access Control Lists with SMB2/SMB3 Mounts on Linux Clients
Hi Jeremy, Hi Steve, Hi Ronnie, thanks for your replies and the profound discussion. I think, it's best to demonstrate my problem case along an real world example: The following log of a console sesssion shows how I am doing the mounts on behalf Linux Kernel CIFS-FS Module on the client side against a Samba 4.5 file server (both running on Debian Stretch 9.8) via SMB/CIFS resp. SMB2 protocol:

Samba and .NET FileSystemWatcher
Hi All, I've been looking into a problem using the .NET FileSystemWatcher class in a VB application. The application is only receiving notifications for events in the root of the directory it is watching. E.g. When monitoring \\SambaServer\Files <file:///\\SambaServer\Files> \\SambaServer\Files\file.txt <file:///\\SambaServer\Files\file.txt> will give notifications but not

Cross Subnet WINS?
But the win wks on the other subnet is configured to use my SAMBASERVER as its WINS SERVER, and it is configured using the IP Adress of the SAMBASERVER and not the name. Shouldn't this do the trick? win wks is on a wireless subnet and hence runs at 11 MBPS, while the SAMBASERVER is on a wired subnet. I read somewhere that windows does some kind of "optimization" with slow networks.

netbios aliases and shares
I have Samba 2.2.8a on Linux set as a PDC. Its netbios name is \\DC, and has an alias \\CSWIN and then I include %L.smb.conf. In dc.smb.conf, I set "security=share" and all the stuff needed for it to act like a PDC. It works without any problems.. Here is my cswin.cmb.conf ------------------------- [global] server string = Windows Distribution Share default service

mount cifs with sec=krb5
Hi, I am trying to mount fileserver (samba, 10.20.30.16) shares on a linux domain member server, where I logged on via ssh using AD my credentials. I am unable to get past the "mount error(126): Required key not available" error message. I have read and googled a lot, and could use some help. See this: > domainuser at memberserver-45:~$ sudo tail -f /var/log/debug & >

Samba/Windows XP and SSH tunnelling
Hi, I've been trying to get SSH tunnelling working with Samba. I'm using a Windows XP and a RedHat 8.0 box. I've closely followed the instructions from the HOWTO manual in order to set this up to no avail. I think the problem comes from the fact that my lmhosts file has no effect on the NetBIOS name cache when I preload it with the command 'nbtstat -R'. I checked the

Samba 3, Windows 7 and printer drivers
Hi, With Samba 3 and Windows XP, it used to be possible to install he printer drivers on the Samba server, so when an XP workstation joined the domain, it would find the printer drivers automatically. Does such a functionality exists with Windows 7? 64 bits? 32 bits? Thanks in advance, Olivier --
