SSO Samba/AD integration
OK, I'm certain that this topic has been beat to death, but I need some assistance. I am trying to migrate to a SSO for the majority of our workstations and servers within our organization. I am currently trying to integrate a Gentoo Linux workstation to authenticate to the AD server. Once I get the process nailed down, I'll be moving on to bigger and better things... Prior to

Logging into linux machine using AD account?
Greetings. I have just started scratching the surface of using Samba to create a SSO environment for my network. I have been playing a bit with both SuSE 9.3 and CentOS 4.1 to authenticate to an AD PDM (W2K). I've made it the farthest with the CentOS server. I have joined it to the domain and been able to verify AD users and groups using wbinfo [-u|-g] and getent [passwd|group]. I have

Compiling R Packages
I am working on a SLES 10 cluster with R available on it. To better use my resources, I want to use Rmpi, but I am having a difficult time installing it. I have set the $R_LIBS variable correctly. The MPI libraries are available through the PGI compiler, but this R instance was compiled with GCC. The Rmpi package can be compiled and installed with %R CMD INSTALL Rmpi_0.5-5.tar.gz

Problem with UID and GID
Hello everyone. I thought I had everything configured correctly but it seems not. I've got two servers. One is the AD DC and another that has been joined to the domain. This is the output I get first from the AD DC when I do a getent: root at dc1:/etc# getent group 'Domain Admins' AD\domain admins:x:3000004: root at dc1:/etc# getent passwd 'stephen'

[PATCH] [CMAKE] Allow a toolchain file for the host when cross-compiling
The current behavior is to not specify any toolchain and invoke CMake without additional arguments for configuring the NATIVE portion of the build. However, CMake will actually set the CC, CXX, and FC environment variables to full paths of the compilers in the CMAKE_{C,CXX,Fortran}_COMPILER CMake variables inside the CMake process. This results in those variables being propagated to any

[cfe-dev] Fwd: Raising CMake minimum version to 3.4.3
> > Replicating ExternalProject would be a lot of work... > One approach commonly used with CMake modules that change frequently upstream is for the project to keep a local copy and have a check in place to use CMake's version if new enough. For instance, in llvm's source tree: cmake/modules/ExternalProject.cmake: if(CMAKE_VERSION VERSION_LESS "3.5.1")

Filesystem level backups?
Up until now I've been backing up my IMAP server by taking an atomic snapshot of the entire VM, so I've not really had to worry about it. I'm moving to hosting where I have neither VM snapshots nor a filesystem that can take snapshots, so I need to think about consistent backups a bit more. Will a simple backup of all the files of an multi-dbox give me a consistent state when I

creating user directories with default group
Hello. I've got my AD DC working and I can login with various user accounts and domain admin accounts. I've got the home directory being create when I create the user profile. Only problem is that it creates it with a group of "domain users" withe a permissions of rwxrwx---. I would like the default group be "domain admins" for every created home dir. Is this

Cronbach's alpha
Dear Listers: I used cronbach{psy} to evaluate the internal consistency and some set of variables gave me alpha=-1.1003, while other, alpha=-0.2; alpha=0.89; and so on. I am interested in knowing how to interpret 1. negative value 2. negative value less than -1. I also want to re-mention my previous question about how to evaluate the consistency of a set of variables and about the total

Is there any way from the Samba server, to be able to send a message to all XP clients within the LAN? Similar sort of message that comes from Shutdown -r "message", can this message be sent to XP clients somehow? Thanks Dave This email and any attached files are confidential and copyright protected. 4.11 for ubuntu 18.04
I've noticed that the current version in the repos for Ubuntu is 4.7.6. I've tried to find a ppa that might have the latest release but can't find it. Does anyone know where I might. I really don't want to compile samba from scratch if possible. Thanks. -- Stephen Atkins
