wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK
Hi, I'm trying to get some Ubuntu8.04 clients to authenticate to an Ubuntu8.04 Samba domain controller. Everyone is running Samba 3.0.28a. Side question: should I upgrade to 3.2? Keep in mind that means finding binaries for ubuntu or compiling from source for a server and 20 clients. Basically wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK. My domain is called

Winbind in Win2003 ADS: wbinfo -u works, wbinfo -g does not
With samba 3.0.24 (Debian Etch packages) I joined a Windows 2003 ADS domain. Now wbinfo -u works fine, but wbinfo -g only says: Error looking up domain groups. smb.conf: [global] workgroup = wise realm = wise.vub.ac.be server string = %h server dns proxy = no password server = wisepc1 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m log level = 10 max log size = 1000 syslog = 0

Hi! I'm trying to add a member to be used as fileserver, following the guides at: - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_RFC2307_on_a_Samba_DC The AD server has been in use for month, but I can't get user information from the new member. The new member was joined to the directory, and nsswitch was configured. Running

wbinfo -g works, -u fails
Attempting to get Winbind to authenticate against a Windows 2000 Domain, I am having one odd issue. Running: wbinfo -t returns a successful secret wbinfo -g returns the builtin groups wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain users" None of the documentation I've found points to anything where only -g or -u fails--its always both. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance -Matt

Win2003 ADS, wbinfo -u and -g almost works
I've been chasing this problem for several days. I have taken the 3.0.26a Fedora 7 SRPM from the Samba FTP site and rebuilt it on RedHat EL5 and installed it. It runs, but it has exactly the same problem as the original 3.0.23c version. I can join the domain and 'wbinfo -t' returns OK. However, 'wbinfo -g' returns only two groups then gives a failure message and

wbinfo -u and -g work, wbinfo -s works only for some users
Got a problem after upgrading Samba from 3.0 to 3.5 - have a bunch of users and groups in LDAP and things work for the most part. However, when people try to change permissions from within Windows, some usernames or groupnames are shown properly, but other are not - they see the SID. Following up I noticed, that I can get a list of all users with 'wbinfo -u' and that I can get a SID for

Samba 3.0.2x Wbinfo -t ShowslJoined, but -u and -g fail to retrieve anything
Folks, I'm working on troubleshooting an installation where Samba 3.0.2x is joined to the domain. If I issue the command "wbinfo -t" it shows the secret is correct. If issues "wbinfo -u" or "wbinfo -g" they give an error about being unable to retrieve any users or groups. Just to test whether I could authenticate against the domain, I tried using ntlm_auth

wbinfo -u/-g does not query AD DC
I'm setting up a domain member (Debian Wheezy, Samba 3.6.6) to join an AD DC (Wheezy backports, Samba 4.1.9). Everything looks good so far, in particular the checklist (http://linuxcostablanca.blogspot.com.es/2014/06/samba4-winbind-desperation.html) up to number 7 is okay. I also removed nscd. I can do "kinit user" and I can query the samba LDAP to see domain users. I did a

wbinfo -u and -g gives no output
Hi, I am checking again if there are any other suggestions. The Samba server is joined to AD successfully. I can authenticate a user using "wbinfo -a" but "wbinfo -u" and "wbinfo -g" commands give no output. Any ideas? Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis Xu" <dxu at uoguelph.ca> To:
