Benchmarks on Pi
Hi All,
What would be interesting would be a plot of complexity versus subjective or
object audio quality.
I've not had a chance to look at the new analysis code in 1.1 so maybe in
the case of a 6kbps compression you could clarify what decisions would it be
making that would justify the extra complexity?
Best Regards

Benchmarks on Pi
Cliff,
Yes it would be good, but very hard to get a figure for the quality.
At 6kbps I assume it does not bother trying to figure what mode to use as
at that rate it can only use SILK. When I run some other bitrates it may
get a bit slower trying to decide whether it is voice or music.
I started with low bit rate because I am only really interested in Voice
and very low bit rate.
I think there

I have run a few more test at different bitrates and 1.1 is looking even
worse in terms of speed compared to previous versions.
I have shared a google sheet which has the raw data and charts for 6,16 and
32 kbps. Unfortunately you cannot show proper error bars on Google sheets
but the standard deviation is in the data if you want to look. You can see
that the profile for 1.1 is a lot different

It might be good to use the (uncompressed) samples on the opus page, as a common starting point?

Bug fix in celt_lpc.c and some xcorr_kernel, optimizations
Although I've never used ARM's compiler, I admit I'm very surprised that
it's not compatible with the NEON intrinsics. Given that and M.
Zanelli's speed tests, it seems clear that M. Zanelli's code is the way
to go. I look forward to its inclusion in the opus GIT.

I have to admit that I am impressed by your results -- making 1.1 look
slower than 1.0 is by no means an easy task. On the other hand, it's a
great tutorial on how not to use Opus, so for the benefit of everyone,
this is a summary of what we learned in this exercise:
1) When running on ARM, the fixed-point build is usually faster than
floating point. This is true on the majority of ARM archs

Martin Pelmore, Credit Cards For Students Offer Convenience And Safety
Credit cards for students are a great deal for many individuals and groups.
Parents will find that credit cards provide a convenient way to provide for
their children away at school. Credit cards for students eliminate the
necessity of students carrying around a lot of cash to pay for their
tuition, fees and miscellaneous

opus Digest, Vol 109, Issue 8
We have found that it is possible to achieve a 30 to 50% reduction in MHz
requirement for implementation of OPUS on Cortex M4 compared to the public
version (v1.3 beta/v1.2.1).
For the CELT configuration you mention (complexity 0, 16kHz, mono, 20ms) we
are measuring a 4ms encode time and a 3ms decode time for that platform
(32kbit/s).
An important issue that I haven't seen much discussion

Bug report in burg_modified_fix( ) opus1.1-alpha
Hello Opus,
I?d like to report a bug in the fixed point OPUS code:
line 336 (or thereabouts), operand FIND_LPC_COND_FAC should be replaced with SILK_FIX_CONST(FIND_LPC_COND_FAC ,32), otherwise multiplication by zero typically occurs.
please confirm.

Multi-frame packet support in opus_demo
Hello OPUS,
It appears to me that multi-frame packets are not supported by opus_demo.c (e.g. 30ms packest containing 3 10ms frames), can you confirm.
However RF6716 does support such packets.
Thanks
Cliff

Can't reproduce clusplot princomp results.
Dear R folk:
Perhaps I'm just dense today, but I am having trouble reproducing the
principal components plotted and summarized by clusplot. Here is a brief
example using the pluton dataset. clusplot reports that the first two
principal components explain 99.7% of the variability. But this is not what
princomp is reporting. I would greatly appreciate any advice.
With best regards,

usrmgr.exe does not show any Samba groups
Hi,
We are running samba 3.0.28 on RHEL 5 as a PDC serving around 1000
active users . This domain was vampired from aWindows NT 4 domain a few
years ago. OpenLDAP 2.2.13 is used as the back end user database. One
of the problems we have is that usrmgr.exe does not display any
groups. I can use usrmgr to create users, delete users and create
groups. But I cannot use it to delete groups

this is managed with three new options:
"domain group map"
"domain user map"
"local group map"
which are documented in smb.conf. they make

Samba 3 beta 1, LDAP and USRMGR
Hi,
I've now got my Samba 3 domain successfully configured apart from a minor
detail. When I use USRMGR to try and add a new user I get "The filename,
directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect". About 10 minutes ago I
successfully joined this machine to the domain and tested that the server
correct adds all my details to the LDAP server. I'm confused, if you tell

Samba3beta3 + PDC + LDAP + UsrMgr.exe prob
Heya all,
So I've finally got a machine on this Samba 3 domain. Yey. Its an XP Pro
box, so I grabbed the UsrMgr.exe and SrvMgr.exe programs from Microsoft,
and hoped to at least use UsrMgr to see lists of users, maybe even as a
full User manager, since I can't find a decent one that does all the samba3
stuff.
Anyway, I'm on the domain, and I run the UsrMgr.exe program and I get an

samba3.0.0rc1 - Problems managing groups with UsrMgr
Dear list,
I have two problems managing groups from Win2kSP2 client using UserManager
for domains.
My Linux user and groups are stored in OpenLDAP using pam_ldap+nss_ldap from Padl.
Due to the fact that the groups using the ou=Group organizationalUnit, I have set
in smb.conf the "ldap group suffix = ou=Group" (using ldapsam as passdb backend).
So the Linux group and the

usrmgr.exe problems / samba3.0.1 LDAP
Hello,
I'm using Samba 3.0.1 with LDAP backend running as a PDC here. When I
start up usrmgr.exe from Windows NT, it will read all the users (or
computers, for srvmgr.exe) in the domain and report them back correctly.
However, whomever I am logged in as ( including gid 512 users) it will not
let me see details or change anything. In the logs after trying to view a
users details I will get
