Installing Netware 6.5 Sp8
Hey, I attempted to install netware a while ago but failed miserably. I am now attempting this again and have got much further. The issue im having now is that when installing via VNC it gets to the network detection and attempts to load RTSSRV.LAN but then complains about the driver failing to load and deletes the driver which then means i cannot continue with the install. I have

OS/2 warp 4 and Netware
I need to copy an ACII file from an OS/2 warp 4 pc to a Unix machine. I know TCP/IP is configured correctly and I can get connected to the Unix server through TELNET. I need a permanent mount to the Unix machine as the file transfer will occur every hour. I'm thinking of creating a batch FTP to connect to the Unix server....but real unsure how. Is there a better way and is there a way to

Novell NetWare 3.2 + Paradox => slow Samba
Hi Jim, Does the Novell NetWare 3.2 server that you are trying to replace with Samba have any NLM's loaded to implement B-Tree lookups? If so, B-Tree processing is done on the Novell server without generating a lot of network I/O. In order to get the same kind of client - server performance, you would have to run some Paradox compatible server software on the Samba box. Thanks, Gary

Changes to OpenSSH for NetWare
I have attached a diff file with the changes to existing OpenSSH source files to accomodate the NetWare platform. All changes are #ifdef wrapped using one in one of the following defines: HAVE_NETWARE - Building for NetWare USE_EDIR - Using eDirectory(TM) for authentication. NICI - Using Novell International Cryptography Infrastructure (NICI) I have successfully built the OpenSSH-3.5p1

Netware copy fails
Affected: Various 2.x.x releases of samba on Solaris 2.6/8 and Netware 5.1 SP5. Problem: Unable to copy files from a mapped Netware drive to a mapped samba share on a PC desktop (W2K). Netware and Samba PDC password sync
Hello all: Setup: Novell Client 4.83 sp1 Windows 2000 sp2 Redhat 7.3 (Samba 2.2.3a) Users are forced to change their password every 60 days by Novell. When they log in it tells them that they need to change their password and they agree to do so. While they are changing there is a dialog box that asks them if they want to change their Windows password as well. If they agree the computer

cifs-vfs connecting to Netware 6 running cifs.nlm
Hi All, I've got some problems accessing data on a netware server 6.0 running cifs.nlm from a Suse9 linux box. I was origanally trying to access it via smbfs however there were problems with files being truncated when writing and not being read properly. After reading through the archives to this list/newsgroup, I figured I might have better luck with the cifs-vfs module. However it

Netware 4.11 -> Samba 30
Hello, I have to migrate 30GB from a Novell Netware 4.11 to Samba (ReiserFS/ACL). When I used robocopy.exe from the Windows XP Resource-Kit, it will only copy the Timestamp, but not the owner. Is there a way to copy the owner of a file or directory? matze

recommendation for a tricky AD/netware setup
We have a co-operative project where we have 2 separate organisations using 2 different server environments. One uses Active Directory and windows file servers, the other eDirectory and Netware servers. We want to do a file server that handle users from both domains. It is easy enough to use kerberos authentication for the Active Directory users and LDAP to an eDirectory server for the Netware

filename encoding netware->linux
Hi all rsync users! This is asked before but I didn't see any replies in archives or FAQ. I'm having problems with character encodings when syncing files from netware (rsyncd) to linux box. Character with umlauts like ?? are stored wrongly on disk. I tried to change enviroment variables LC_CTYPE and G_FILENAME_ENCODING on my linux (suse 9.1), but no difference. Does anybody know how

NT4 performance in Netware primary login.
Samba Gurus. We run W95 and NT4 clients in a mixed environment of Netware and Samba on SGs. Netware is the primary network login(over IPX/SPX). Am using clear text passwords for the Samba network. NT 4 is patched up to SR 3. Samba version 1.9.18p7. Problem. Samba performance from NT 4 machines is VERY slow. Many orders of magnitude slower than W95 which is very good. This performance

Samba, PAM and Netware question
I am currently running Samba 2.0.3 on my RedHat 5.2 linux box. I have some services (such as login, ftpd) set up to authenticate via our Netware server. How can I do this with Samba? I've tried placing the same line in /etc/pam.d/samba as I have in the login and ftp files of the same directory but, as far as i can tell, Samba doesn't even try to use the Pam module to authenticate

Comparisons between samba / NT / Netware
Hi all, I'm looking for some articles that compare file and print serving on Samba, WinNT and/or Novell Netware, preferably recent versions. My boss is pushing for a reduction of the number of network operating systems that we run. I hope you can point me towards some "unbiased" articles, etc. Thank you Rick Day -- "...the extreme case best illustrates the norm..."

Does samba support netware authentiocation.
Can netware logins and password authenticate to samba shares? If so is it scalable? We have a about 50000 netware users. How do you set it up. Thanks Greg Turnbull
