Can samba mount to SBS2003?
mount -t cifs works to an Active Directory SBS2003, but I cannot open
any files even though I can write files and change directory.
smbclient -k works fine and opens files and I have done the net ads join
and kinit.
How do I get mount -t cifs to use the kerberos ticket created by kinit?
I have tried -0 sec=krb5 and krb5i
Are there any error logs to look at?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

winbind and SBS 2003
Hi,
I want vpn clients which have a valid x509 Cert and a valid user account in the M$ domain can access to the LAN. The M$ DC is an SBS2003 Server in mixed mode.
I don't want to manage two user db's. I want the vpn server to ask the domain controller for a valid user account. So I've installed the nessecary stuff on the vpn server. The interresting things here are:

mount.cifs with kerberos
Hi all,
Has anyone been able to mount windows shares with mount.cifs using kerberos
credentials? I can get a kerberos ticket at login or use kinit and then
connect via smbclient:
> kinit username
> smbclient -k \\server\share
I'd like to be able to mount the share like this:
> mount.cifs //server/share /mnt -o user=username,sec=krb5
The above command returns: mount error 95 =

NFSv4, homes, Kerberos...
Hai,
I'm getting somewhere, here you go, a snap of what i have atm.
And what works atm. Im asuming you have winbind already running.
Obligated is A+PTR record in the DNS.
You can turn or the rdns check in krb5.conf but i did not test that.

NFSv4, homes, Kerberos...
Hai,
Hmm.. Bummer..
I just discovered the debian package dont have the vfs_nfs4acl include in the build.
And because of that it's not in my packages. I'll have a look into it, see what i can make of it.

CIFS proxy
Hi,
I need to run a Samba CIFS proxy (not DFS) in an AD environment. What we
tried so far is mounting the remote share with mount.cifs and "-o
sec=krb5i,multiuser" and share it through samba. But mount.cifs's
multiuser option requires local access to the domain user's kerberos
tickets, i.e, if I login as a domain user and run kinit to get a ticket,
everything works. If the

NFSv4, homes, Kerberos...
Thank you for that, i did have a good look at that one.
And i use Debian 9, if you test what i posted below in the thread, you will see NFSv4 works fine.
Below is missing one more thing, the "allow to delegate (kerberos only) " on the computer object in the AD, should be enabled.
And yes, i've see bugchecks also but only on my debian .. Lenny.. Stt.. ;-) .. Its my last lenny

Hi,
I've got a big problem since my new samba servers are in 3.0.23c

Winbind not looking in correct Win2k3 SBS User container
Hi,
We've recently upgraded a network from Win2k to 2k3 SBS. We were using
samba with security = domain (which I believe stopped working - I was on
vacation at the time the upgrade was done) and are now using security =
ads.
We're using samba-3.0.23b-0.1.35 on SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9 SP3
x86_64
The samba machine has been sucessfully joined to the domain with:

little help with my config please
Hola:
I have configured samba-3.0.14a-2 on FC4 as a member of a Windows
SBS2003 network. I used windbind to get the users from the SBS server. Users
can login into the samba machine and use home directories I created for them
in the samba machine (I cannot get to use/mount the user's home directories
from the SBS machine into the samba machine).
I 'm trying to connect to the

Replace SBS2003 with Samba4
Anastasios,
I've done exactly what you want to do, only starting from SBS2008. Our office went down this
road in 2014 when we investigated upgrading from SBS2008 only to find that MS replacement,
Server Essentials, did not support Exchange. We currently have a "no cloud" policy, so going
to Office 365, as you have done, was not an option (and btw, have you not considered Server

Good practices to make a Kerberos "mount.cifs" launched by root but with the credentials of another user
Hi,
I have a Debian Stretch computer which is a "samba4 member
server" of an Samba4 AD domain (versions etc. are mentioned
at the end of the message). I think my config is OK and I
can open a _graphical_ session with an AD account user. The
display manager of the computer is Lightdm. For for instance,
I can open a graphical session with the AD account bob (uid
== 14001). In this case, I

ADS security mode - authenticating non-domain Linux users
Hi All,
We've been beating our heads against a problem here with a new Samba
server that we're trying to bring into production, and I'm hoping that
the members of this list can provide some insight.
Our server is on a Linux CentOS 7.6, Samba version 4.8.3 installed from
distribution packages. Our clients are a mixture of Windows, Mac, and
Linux systems. Most of these clients are

connecting to samba from 2003 sbs domain client running xp profi
Hi everybody,
I have a network which consists of a linux data server, running Samba, a
windows 2003 sbs, and a few xp professional clients which login to the
domain server (2003 sbs).
On the linux box, samba is running, this pc is always on. When i start
the client pc (xp profi) and login to the domain, i can access the samba
shares at full speed.
Now the problem: When the xp profi client is
