problems mounting Win2003 Server Share - smbclient is working smbmount is not
Hi, this is my first post to this list. I have to mount an Win2003 SmallBusinessServer share to my linux box. So far so good. The user "user" exists with the same pass on the linux-box like in the ActiveDirectory at the Win2003-Server. I added the user with smbpasswd -a user . I joined the domain with: net rpc join -S domain -U user mount -t smbfs -o username=user, workgroup=domain,rw

smbmount and win2003 sp1
Hi All: I encountered a problem with smbmount and win2003 sp1. Before I upgrade sp1, everything works fine. But after sp1, smbmount = can't work. The command and error message are as follows: smbmount //localhost/share1 /tmp/mountest -o = username=3Ddomainu1,password=3Dpassword ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access Denied.) SMB connection failed I also checked the release note about the issue, and

Can't see shares, and also smbmount works but mount -t cifs doesn't
Hi (this is most likely a newbie question). A couple of problems. I have a linux guest (puppy) running on vmplayer on a friend's machine, which runs WinXP home. I have folder sharing enabled on the host for a few different folders. I am trying to mount the winxp host shared folders onto the linux guest. First problem is that I can't seem to see the shares. smbtree only lists the

smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse" is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount command with a -k option, I can mount the share: turgon at workhorse:~$ klist Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1000 Default principal: turgon at DACRIB.LOCAL Valid starting

mounting an AD share upon login
Hi everyone, I am having trouble mounting a share on my AD server upon login. I am using pam_mount. Here is log activity when user 'peter' logs in (with Ubuntu client) and is authenticated by AD server. There is a share called 'peter' on the server (netbios name WIN2003) and the mount point is /home/PRIVATE/peter (see later for pam_mount.conf file): ===================== Jul

windows server 2003 shares (smbmount & signing or cifs & kerberos)
hello everyone, the old problem persists :X I'm currently running Novell Linux Desktop 9 (SP2) featuring a 2.6.5series kernel. Smbclient (3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE) seems to support signing negotiation.. at least the following command works just fine: smbclient -k -L //hostname turning signing off manually (-S off) ends up in the common error message cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have

accented share name ok with smbclient but not with smbmount
Hi, I'm trying to mount with smbmount a WinNT4.0 share resource from a Linux running Samba 2.2.2.=20 WinNT box is installed with code page=3D850. The resource name includes grave accented characters, in particular: =E0. I'm trying to smbmount with: $ smbmount '//NThostname/of=E0rs' /mnt/ofors -o ip=3Dxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,username=3Dofors,password=3D******,workgroup=3Dwwwwww where:

Samba mounts failing to Win2003 Server
We have a Windows 2003 fileserver here on a domain. I've been mounting it via Linux for a couple years now. Some time in the last three months it stopped working. Perhaps some patch was applied that broke things? I have no idea what's causing it but I always get a permission denied error message. root@snikt(/mnt) :mount q-drive/ mount error 13 = Permission denied Refer to the

CIFS / mounting long delay
Hi all; When I access the data hosted in that share using others mount ways (except the smbmount/mount.cifs/mount -t smbfs/mount -t cifs) all works fine, downhere a benchmark: 1) Transfer a 500 mb file: netcat - 27 seconds ftp - 31 seconds smbclient - 38 seconds mounted (cifs) - 2:58 minutes I'm having a big problem with delay mounting a share using smbmount or mount -t cifs. Problem with DFS mounting (works OK in smbclient) [samba-3.0.14a-2.1.fc4.kde]
I am having problems mounting a DFS share, even though it works in smbclient fine. After mounting, the mount point (in ls) has question marks for everything, and when ls'ing I just get permission denied. Turning up debug and verbose don't seem to help. Any ideas ? Using smbclient to transfer files from a Linux system to a CIFS share
Hello, I have a script which utilizes smbclient to transfer files across to a CIFS shares from my Red Hat Linux 7.x servers on a daily basis. Mounting of CIFS shares work fine to transfer but this is for some reason not to be implemented. I have the following version of samba-client Loaded plugins: langpacks, product-id, rhnplugin, search-disabled-repos, subscription-manager This system is

Mounting DOSBOX on a remote share
It is probably not strictly related to SAMBA itself but let me try to ask you for advice. Using smbmount I have mounted one of smb/cifs share to /root/test. This share has RW access and no authentication is required. Now, under DOSBox, whenever I try to mount /root/test I get this error (command sent under DOSBox: mount c /root/test). Directory /root/test doesn't exist. Any other directories,

Weird authentication difference between smbclient and smbmount
Hello I already posted this in smb-clients, but seeing the load difference I repost in the samba list. I am currently using samba 3.0.10 with kernel 2.6.9. In the doc one is encouraged to use 'security = user' level. If I then connect with 'smbclient //machine/share -U myname%mypass' all works well. But when I try to mount the share localy with smbmount //machine/share

smbmount performance stinks, smbclient is good
Hi, I use smbmount to mount a share from a linux smbd. Bandwidth for transferring a big file (via cp) is 1/5th that of when I do the equivalent using smbclient to transfer the file. Duh?! Any clues? Any pointers on how to debug the problem? Thanks! /Zac

Mounting a cifs share using kerberos for authentication.
Good afternoon, I would like to mount a cifs share using kerberos for authentication. I'm able to connect to the share using smbclient: $ smbclient //server/share -k and I'm able to mount the share using username/password pair entered interactively: # mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt -o user=smbuser or using a `credentials' file: # mount -t cifs //server/share /mnt -o

Trouble with mount.cifs while smbclient works (Ubuntu 12.04)
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 12.04 and am working to restore access to the windows shares I use at work. smbclient connects immediately: sudo smbclient //server/share -A /etc/.smb_creds.txt mount.cifs fails (with "mount error(13): Permission denied"): sudo mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/ -o credentials=/etc/.smb_creds.txt my credentials file is as

mount shares with path
I need to mount a share I don't have direct access to only to one subdirectory. I have no problems mounting other shares on the same windows server with the same permissions. I can mount the volume through gnome "Connect to Server...", but I need it on the filesystem. What is working: smbmount //server1/share1 /mnt -o -fstype=cifs -noperm,credentials=/etc/auto.smb.server1 What is

Fwd: mounting a windows share on a linux client using mount.cifs with encryption
I'm terribly sorry for the double-post, but it seems there was a problem with the attachments the first time around. Here goes the second attempt. smbmount deprecated - what about Windows 9x?
Hallo, I've just installed Kernel 2.6.25.2 - works fine. But now when I use "smbmount" for mounting shares from my Win9x clients the system (kernel) tells me smbfs is deprecated and will be removed from the 2.6.27 kernel. Please migrate to cifs. But at least Win9x seems not to like cifs. Mounting via smbfs works since years, mounting (with the same options) via cifs
