can't join samba to win2k3 domain - please help
Hello, I've managed to join four other samba servers to win2k3 domains
in the past but I am stuck doing so with samba-3.0.23c_2,1. I've
verified hosts / domain forward and reverse lookups succeed. Below are
my configurations. I'm running FreeBSD 6.1-stable cvsupped as of Nov 17.
I've built Samba with the following options...
WITH_LDAP=true
WITH_ADS=true
WITHOUT_CUPS=true

file transfer problem
Hello,
I'm having a problem copying large amounts of data from our Win2k3
server to a samba share on the samba server. I've turned debugging on in
the smb.conf file all the way up to level 10 and I still do not see what
is causing my file transfers to abort. It consistently aborts copying
files as small as 10 gigs even. I've read through the performance tuning
section in the

Samba-4.3 on FreeBSD-10.3
I have created a Samab AD-DC on a FreeBSZD-10.3 host. The setup
checks out and I am able to join the domain from a Win7 workstation
and run the ADUC management console in RAST. I have opened the UNIX
Attributed properties tab for "Domain Admins" in the ADUC and set the
unix properties.
However, I get this notice "UNIX Attributes Unwilling To Perform" and

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I
seriously doubt it is going to be.
Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2
server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups
and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any
problem.
Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the

samba as PDC in FreeBSD
Hello all, I've set up samba as a PDC in FreeBSD 5.1-release. I seemed to
have no problems joining my computer to the domain as it said "Welcome to
the domain" but when I try and log in it says it can't contact the domain
controller or the domain account doesn't exist. Can anyone offer any help on
how to fix this?
Here is my smb.conf.
Kind regards,

winbind and compat mode in nsswitch.conf
Hay together,
is the following entry in nsswitch.conf possible ?
passwd: compat
passwd_compat: winbind
I want to use the compat mode, so i can use the +/- semantic.
But in this case i cant login with username/password.
If i configure the nsswitch.conf like:
passwd: files winbind
The login works, but so i cant use the +/- semantic.
Andy ideas ?
Thanks,
Andy

asterisk guru needed for job in Chicago area
Hello, I run a small network consulting company in the Chicago area and
I have a client who is interested in doing an asterisk based VOIP
installation. My company does not have the necessary experience to carry
out the project alone so I am looking for an asterisk guru to lead the
project. I'm interested in someone from the Chicago or northwest Indiana
area who is very experienced with

domain user part of unix group problem
Hello,
I'm trying to allow a specific windows user to be able to access a samba
share which points to the /var/log/squid directory on my squid proxy
server and read the access.log files there. The permissions on the
access.log file are below...

Using idmap backend = ad
Good day!
I have AD on Win2003 Server with Services For UNIX 3.5.
When I try to set idmap backend = ad and type
# id <domain_user_name>
I get in log.winbindd-idmap following:
[2007/11/07 18:09:18, 1] nsswitch/idmap_ad.c:idmap_ad_sids_to_unixids(613)
Could not get unix ID
AD user has SFU UID 20000000.
wbinfo -u prints correct lists of domain users,
and when using idmap bakend = tdb

Yes, I know... I have a similar setup (same version of samba, same
hardware, same OS but a different windows domain on a different
network) that is working fine.

winbind fails "getent passwd eknuds"
Now I'm trying to make it so the Samba accounts can be used for user
logins as well. Unfortunately I'm having a bit of trouble with winbind.
Whenever I try to do a "getent passwd eknuds", it find the entry in the
ldap sam, but the winbind log for my domain comes up with this and the
getent displays nothing:

map user homes to a windows share
Hello everyone,
I've been tasked with setting up several computer labs in a school with
Ubuntu workstations. I have successfully joined those workstations to
the windows domain and set it up so they authenticate to the windows
domain as well. My problem is that I need to figure out how to have each
user's home folder on the Ubuntu boxes map to the users home folder on

Trusted domain user login
Greetings,
We are currently experiencing logon problems with a trusted domain user(s).
Example: We have DomainA and DomainB
DomainA and DomainB both have workstations joined on their respective
domain.
DomainA and DomainB both have trust relationships. DomainA trusts DomainB
and vise versa.
DomainA is where being served by a Samba PDC, while DomainB has a PDC using

I've been messing around with running samba 3.4.14 inside a freebsd jail over
the last couple of days, and am running into an odd problem where wbinfo -u

local users, but none of the domain users).
Here's my smb.conf:

enough.

I have the domain provisioned as rfc2307
I have joined a Win7-virtual machine to the domain

plagued our systems. I am trying to upgrade from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23c. I
have been able to compile,
but when I go to join it to the AD domain, I keep getting this familiar
error that many others have noted but have not posted many solutions to.

about this and a good fix. Here's an example of the output.
