LDAP issue, access denied adding machine to domain, and LDAP user can't make unix-login on the box.
Hi,
I have a LDAP backend for my Samba 3.0.2, and everything seems to work
except adding XP machines to the domain, and unix logins with a ldap client.
Since this mail is very long, I have created a small index, so you don't
get exhaustet in the middle of all the logs... ;)

2. Group info
3. pam/nss info

Starting slapd: /bin/bash: /tmp/start-slapd.K12378: Permission denied
Hi,
I'm running Centos 5, with openldap Version: 2.3.27 Release: 8.el5_2.4.
When I run:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/ldap start
I get the following error:
Starting slapd: /bin/bash: /tmp/start-slapd.l14891: Permission denied
(obviously the temp file number changes every time).
It appears to be a permission problem but I thought I did everything to set
up the permissions correctly...

Need help debugging the printer related "Access denied, unable to connect" message
1. The printers are Samba/CUPS.
2. Clients are Windows XP Pro & 2000 Workstations.
3. "Access denied, unable to connect" appears in the printers window
on the clients - nearly always. Very occasionally, it displays
what it's supposed to.
4. Seems to be a cosmetic problem since it does not affect actual printing.
5. Can some guru advise what level of debugging to

Re: Need solution to Printers window access denied, unable toconnect message.
Hi Ronnie,
if your printer do work, this message is useless for you, trash it.
I cannot confirm Tim's hypothesis, but i can say i presently have
the same problem as you: in the printers folder there's that red message
alerting me. My PC is running Win2K pro.
I did not mind it, right-clicked on the printer's icon
(my specific case is: lpq@router.x.y) and chose 'connect...'

access denied with samba share
I had the same problem as well and finally found a solution.
Some additional notices:
- I can access subdirectories of the share, e.g. attempting to access
\\server\share gives "access denied", \\server\share\data works.
- Other XP Pro clients do not have this problem.
- The problem does not occur with a share served by Samba 2.2.3a.
- The problem does not occur after booting XP in

Re: Need solution to Printers window access denied, unableto connect message.
look in the smb.conf man page for "disable sspool"
I think thats the right option. It needs to go in your global section
ie disable sspool = yes
Cheers

smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root
I'm using Samba 3.0.14a as a PDC with an LDAP backend.
I am having trouble using the Windows "User Manager for Domains" tool.
As an example, I shall be looking at the "Domain Users" group. Whenever
I try modifying anybody's group membership, I get the error message:

First attempt file access denied subsequent file accesses granted
Hi List,
We?re running
3.0.28.el4.9 on CentOS 4.7 in a production environment with one minor annoyance.
This is a very inconsistent behavior ,frequent enough top be annoying ,yet
unpredictable enough to warrant this email.
Our Samba server is serving up a wide variety of files but in this
instance in particular are Visual Fox Pro tables (*.dbf).

I have Samba working as a PDC, but when I try to join from a XP computer I

Samba 3.0.22-11 as PDC with openLDAP 2.3.19 => Problem with Shares
Hi there!
To set up a samba PDC with openLDAP on my openSUSE 10.1 x86_64 I followed
this howto: http://en.opensuse.org/Howto_setup_SUSE_10.1_as_Samba_PDC
Every service seems to be running now but now I'm stuck. I was able to join
a clean Windows XP Pro test machine to my Domain and I'm able to log on as
normal LDAP user. The home-share is mounted and even a login script

VMware Printing Problem - Access Denied, Unable To Connect
Running Samba 2.28 on a SuSE Linux Pro 9.0 system, equipped with VMware
Workstation 4. A Windows 2000 Pro guest OS is installed in VMware.
Printing from the W2K OS doesn't work. I was able to add the printer as
a network printer OK (it appears as a network printer when using My
Network Places to browse to the Linux Samba server), but the printer

Access Denied to Printers
Hi!
Trying to trace down a problem with printer sharing. I don't see
anything glaringly obvious with my smb.conf. I am using LDAP and CUPS.
Using a Windoze client, accessing a printer I receive the friendly
"Access denied, unable to connect". Checking the Samba logs, I find:

Excel - share Access Denied after opening file
I have a strange problem with Excel + Word from an XP Pro (SP2) PC to a
Linux Samba share (HOME).
If I
1 - open Excel,
2 - then open a file on my Samba share HOME,
3 - any subsequent attempts to save or open a file on the HOME share
immediately result in an 'Access Denied' windows error message
as soon as I select the root of the HOME share!

Base ldap access file.
Hi,
Having set up a few Samba-ldap installations, I always end up with the
feeling that OpenLDAP ACLs is what took time. The following patches /
scripts might help someone else.
I would appreciate some input on the access.conf.pl file so that it is
even better tuned.

Access Denied
I have a samba server acting as a PDC and sharing printers and disks. My
windows 98 clients can access the hard drives and print, but my Windows 2000
Pro system can only access the disk shares. All the printers fail to
connect because access is denied. I'm pretty sure it is something pretty
minor I'm missing.
thanks for the help
