Request for recommendations for dynamic dns daemon
Greetings, I'm trying to configure dynamic dns on my test/backup machine (CentOS 5.8). I'm using Zoneedit DNS. I've been trying to setup ddclient; the error message that I get is: Jun 26 15:20:09 xxxxxx ddclient[28467]: WARNING: file /var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache, line 3: Invalid Value for keyword 'ip' = '' Or should I use ez-ipupdate? Thank you. Max

Asterisk on Dynamic IP to a SIP extension
Verizon has put another good third party DSL supplier out of the DSL business. Their mindset is to kill the competition and then kill DSL and copper althogether in FIOS areas. So am soon losing my static IP and I need to prepare for the change. I currently have Asterisk running using, besides local extensions, a remote SIP extension in another state. In the new configuration both Asterisk and

Ddclient: is this a problem?
I'm running ddclient on a remote CentOS server (with dynamic IP address). About twice a day I get email from ddclient saying "TIMEOUT: checkip.dyndns.org after 120 seconds". As far as I can see, ddclient checks the IP address every 10 minutes. So can I assume that ddclient got the address the next time it tried? I looked at the Perl source, but couldn't really disentangle it.

Problem updating ddclient
when I ran "sudo yum update" on my CentOS-7.2.1511 today, ddclient was updated to ddclient-3.8.3-1.el7.noarch (from 3.7.3), and ddclient.conf was moved to ddclient.conf.rpmsave . When I move it back, "sudo systemctl restart ddclient" fails with the error (in "sudo journalctl -xe | grep ddclient") Apr 21 13:05:39 alfred.gayleard.eu.localdomain touch[8590]:

ignore pattern for ddclient
Hi all, I use logcheck and ddclient, and I think that it would be usefull to add an ignore pattern for ddclient: ^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ ddclient[[0-9]+]: SUCCESS: updating [._[:alnum:]-]+: good: IP address set to [.#[:digit:]]+ The original messages are like this: Jan 18 10:26:40 casaserv ddclient[4397]: SUCCESS: updating myserver.mine.nu: good: IP address set to 12.345.67.89

running jail with alternate IP
I am currently setting up a firewall that translates my internal network over to 5 public IP addresses. The addresses are dynamically assigned, so I use ddclient to update my www.dyndns.org account. I've set up several aliases on the external interface of the firewall, and succeeded in having the internal computers use those extra public IPs. What I want to do is have 5 copies of ddclient

Changing from dynamic ip to static ip
Hello, I have been on a dynamic ip for about 5 years and have just upgraded to a static ip. I know I need to change my network setup on my eth0 nic to static and stop ddclient from trying to update my address but is there _really_ anything else I need to change. I have a couple of websites on this address using *:80 in my httpd.conf. I can easily change this but don't think it would really

How do I connect to mongrel that''s behind a router from outside world
Hello, I am new to mongrel. I have mongrel running on a linux machine (Fedora core), which sits behind a broadband router. The linux machine has the typical 192.168... internal IP address. We use the dynamicdns to connect to the linux machine from outside world. Now, my question is how can myself and my colleagues connect to mongrel from outside world. I tried starting mongrel with the -a

Strange Postfix problem
Hello, Was trying to setup postfix on my home PC. Running Centos 6.4. I don't have a static IP and use zoneedit and ddclient to keep my installation of zoneminder current. So I decided I wanted to get zoneminder to send me email alerts. Sent some test messages but none were sent. I went to webdnstools website thinking maybe there is a dns or network problem. When it checks my dns setup,

Asterisk and a SPA3000 behind NAT peer registration
Hi, I have a little situation here :( Perhaps somebody can give me a hand with it. I have an Asterisk working, and in another office, a Sipura SPA-3000. I configured the SPA and I have the extension working, the incomming trunk working, but the outgoing trunk (peer) does not work. The issue is that I have a dynamic IP where the SPA is, and neither the SPA nor

ddclient stops running
I find ddclient stops running after a time on a remote CentOS-6.4 server. Has anyone else found this? I think it has been happening for a couple of months. I notice because I get complaining messages in my logwatch. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

ddclient under CentOS-7?
Is anyone running ddclient under the CentOS-7? It doesn't seem to be in epel. I've downloaded the source and it is running, but giving me endless warnings. Could I run it as a daemon? I'm not sure if this is allowed nowadays. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

Bit of a Newbie Question
Apologies in advance - I'm sure there's something quite obvious I'm not doing correctly, but since I'm unable to resolve the problem myself.... I've installed Dovecot 99.14 on FreeBSD-CURRENT using the Dovecot FreeBSD port. My "network" consists of a cable modem connected to a router which is in turn connected (only) to my computer. My ISP assigns a dynamic IP

Multi-ISP with one Dynamic IP
I have two feeds, one with a static IP and one with a dynamic IP. How can I configure a Multi-ISP setup with the dynamic IP, or can I? A problem with power outages
I have a CentOS-6.2 server in Italy. Every few months the server gets into a strange state and stops working after a power outage. I should say that this does not occur after every power outage; I suspect, but have no real evidence for this, that if the power comes back too quickly then the machine gets confused because it is in the middle of closing down. If I am in Italy the solution is simple;
