Problem with CLVM (really openais)
I'm desparately looking for more ideas on how to debug what's going on
with our CLVM cluster.
Background:
4 node "cluster"-- machines are Dell blades with Dell M6220/M6348 switches.
Sole purpose of Cluster Suite tools is to use CLVM against an iSCSI storage
array.
Machines are running CentOS 5.8 with the Xen kernels. These blades host
various VMs for a project. The iSCSI

Samba 3.0 question, DOMAIN vs. SERVER method? Help!
Hello all!
We are attempting to get Samba-3.0.10 working on a new Solaris 8 machine in
preparation for upgrading an existing 2.2.8 installation (both use the
SMCsamba packages from SunFreeware.com). We copied over the smb.conf file
and the usermap from the Samba-2 installation, and seeing some weird
symptoms when Windows users try to connect to the new machine.
We ran "net join" to

Using smbpasswd users as AD Member
Hi,
I'm an old admin used to configure computers by using a few command lines, that used to quite similar for about 20 years now. For example there was a quite simple method to add a smbpasswd for a unix user to allow access to samba shares. Sometimes I like to share directories with the foreign AD world and sometimes I want to keep the directories inside the unix realm. For example a

[Bridge] BCP code ported to pppd 2.4.2
Hello,
i have ported the BCP (Bride Control Protocol) patch for pppd 2.4.1
mentioned in
http://lists.osdl.org/pipermail/bridge/2004-September/000619.html

Perhaps someone else could use this patch ...

Users mapping in security tab
Hi there,
I have a Samba installation acting as a Domain Member with a disk share (the
partiton is mounted with acl and user_xattr options). I am not using
winbind, because I want the domain users to be mapped to Unix users.
Everything works right, excepting the users in the Windows Explorer security
tab. I will try to explain the situation with an example.
I have username map, that maps

smbusers and wildcards
It is my understanding that if you have a wildcard in smbusers, it
should only apply this if the particular users is not in your
/etc/password file. Is this true? It appears like samba is rolling
down the smbusers file and everything gets mapped to my wildcard user.
Eg.
smbusers:
root = administrator admin
nobody = guest pcguest smbguest
myunixlogin = mysmblogin
www-users = *

1. Would one of the Wiki admins help unwind my Wiki credentials?
I originally registered as "crisrhea" (lower case), but was told
I should have used "CrisRhea" (camel case).
I logged in and changed my preferences to use CrisRhea, but I can't
access/edit my pages (/CrisRhea, /HowTos/Xen/NvidiaWithXen).
Can one of the admins please fix my rights on these two

OK, I had this working a few days ago, but have evidently changed
something that I cannot locate. Someone hit me with their 2x4.
Samba 3.0.22, Fedora Core 4, ldapsam (OpenLDAP 2.3.24).
smbd will not start, with the "ERROR: failed to setup guest info" error (I
have "guest account = guest", which is a valid user with correct info in
LDAP):
