XP Home can't print to Samba
OK, I was so pleased to get Samba and CUPS working and XP Pro systems printing fine. Then, I went through the same steps with a laptop that had XP Home on it. I installed the printer drivers as an admin, and had no trouble accessing shares on Samba. Even could connect to and view the printer. Trouble is that nothing printed. After clicking Print Test Page, there was around a 1 min pause before

Problems printing to remote windows shared printer with 3.0.20
Have just upgraded from 3.0.13 to 3.0.20 on our Solaris domain controller. Machine is also print server running CUPS-1.1.23. We have a RICOH network printer that we print to via Samba (the printer seems to have a builtin Windows PC). smbspool is linked to /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb and the appropriate DeviceURI is in /etc/cups/printers.conf. This works fine with 3.0.13, but with 3.0.20 I get this

smbspool
Hi, We have unified logons on Linux and Windows clients by using a Windows 2000 AD domain with pam_winbind/nss_winbind on linux clients, the problem is, smbclient and smbspool still require us to enter a password instead of using the logged on users credentials. Is there anyway to pam-enable smbclient and smbspool? Hesham S. Ahmed __________________________________________________ Do You

Printing from Samba to Authenticated printer on W2K3 in ADS
Greetings, I have a pack of SunRay network computers in kiosk mode and I need to print to the Pharos printing system. Not surprisingly, Pharos runs on Windows. It is currently set up on Windows 2003 server. To print to this system you have to authenticate to the Activate Directory the Pharos server is a member of. I thought my best bet to pull this off was to use Samba. The

smbspool and cups on Centos5
Hi, I'm cannot get smbspool to print to a kerberized windows printer through cups. Kerberos is working, and both smbclient and smbspool can connect to the server. Even though sending a formatted page manually with smbspool works, cups returns "Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds..." I read an older post here:

Trouble with install, still
I've tried building it on a server that I know has pretty much every library possible for a program to need, but I'm still not getting a good samba install. I'm on white-dwarf linux (kernel 2.4.25), gcc 3.3.2, Samba 3.0.2a White-dwarf is home-grown, very much like slackware. When I configure and make and make install, I don't get any errors, but I when I look for some files

Is it posible to force Windows 2000 to send print job name?
Hi, I need to log print job's. But Windows 2000 send me only 'Remote Downlevel Document' as a job name (%J macro in print command). (I don't have other Windows system versions to test it there, but from Linux}smbspool command) it works fine - job name is "Remote Downlevel Document + job name"). Is there any possibility how to force (or get) print job name from Windows

smbspool and printing
Hi Folks, Just looking for a little direction here. 1) windows ADS server with printers. 2) linux workstations which use smb to authenticate users to win ADS server, and auto mounts there home directories through smb. Question: Printing from linux workstation? I know I can use smbspool to print, but this requires user password. Can I automate this so there is no need for password? Because the
