Cannot create writeable share - tried many different things
Hi, I appreciate any help that can be given. For the life of me, I cannot create a writeable share on a specific box - a fairly new install of Fedora Core 5. I have posted on several forums over the past 2 weeks, but haven't gotten anywhere with the advice given, so I'm turning to this list as my last hope. This box runs as an NIS client, but I have had no problems with NIS. The problem

zfs showing more filesystem using ls than df actually has
Platform T2000 SunOS ccluatdwunix1 5.10 Generic_125100-10 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200 I have a user that stated zfs is allocating more file system space than actually available via ls command versus what df -k shows. He stated he used the mkfile to verify if ZFS quota was working. He executes "ls -s" to report usage which reports more allocated than available from "df

rsync stoped syncing
Hi, I want to keep the home-Directorys of 2 machines in sync. Therefor I start rsync every hour with cron. In the Beginning all worked fine, but now ... I searched, but can't see the problem. The home-directorys on the "master" change very often, but the changes are no longer replicated to the "slave". Both run Linux and rsync 2.5.5. The master calls (the long line may be

Slow directory listing after adding new trusted domain to current forest
We have an ubuntu 14.04 server running samba 4.1.6 that is a member of our OLDDOMAIN. We recently added a new trusted domain to our forest. We noticed any new directories created by users in that new domain take a long time for the directory to list in the command line. This does not seem to happen when listing the directories with only user/group ID: root at

multi-protocol (cifs/nfs) access to same files - help please
Hello, New here, and I''m not sure if this is the correct mailing list to post this question or not. Anyway, we are having some questions about multi-protocol (CIFS/NFS) access to the same files specifically when not using AD or LDAP. Summary: Accessing the same folder from CIFS or NFS when working in a workgroup configuration (no domain authentication) works fine using cifs user

9p host/guest permissions & selinux...?
Hello Folks It's with some trepidation that I venture on to such a heady newsgroup, but I'm about ready to throw myself off a bridge after getting this all set up and apparently working only to be struck down by permissions and selinux hell (either, or both). I've followed instructions here: http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/9psetup

cannot share directories other than on root mount?
I have been using SAMBA for a number of years and recently switched from slackware to FC6 which is running 3.0.23c-2. Since the switch I have been unable to share directories that are not on the root drive. For example I can create a directory /mnt/backup and share it, but if I mount /mnt/backup to a ext3 disk, then the share no longer works. This is a problem as my /home directory is on a

Copy creates empty file then fails
When I try to copy a file from a Windows 2000 desktop to a Solaris 8 machine running Samba 2.2.2, the copy fails. After I initiate the copy, I get a pop-up window asking me to replace the existing file with the new file. The problem is that Samba is creating an empty file (0 bytes), and then tries to overwrite it. It won't allow me to overwrite the empty file, it just gives me a message Access

[libnbd PATCH] lib: Call read/extent(FREE) before callback(VALID|FREE)
Some callers of nbd_aio_pread_structured_callback or nbd_aio_block_status_callback share the same opaque pointer to both calls, with the intent to only free the pointer on the completion callback. Although our documentation does not explicitly specify the order in which callbacks are made, allowing the callback(FREE) to occur prior to the read(FREE) puts a burden on the client to not dereference

valid users with AD group
Hello all, hope all is well/happy holidays Issues with an old thread out there, valid users containing an AD group Have tried this on systems running cent7u2 and ubuntu trusty. These systems are running sssd. I can login with AD users and chown/chgrp file with AD groups. However, I can't get AD groups to work with valid users for restricting share access. If I just set individual AD users,

Hello all, I already successfully configured shadow copy service without a delimiter and regex. But as soon as I try to get this to work with regex, nothing shows up on the win client. mounting win2003 server shares fails
I emailed about this before but didn't get any response. I am desperate. I can mount the share of any computer in the domain. XP (even with sp2), 2000, etc... everything works no problem. When I try to mount a share on a win2003 server, the command completes successfully, but when I try to view the folder, it is not showing. I have tried several variations of commands: mount -t smbfs -o

3.0.6 Creates Uppercase Folders
Hi, With Mandrake's samba 3.0.6-4.1.100mdk udpate, I see that uppercase foldername is created instead of lowercase for some users, also some users cannot be mapped. Is there a fix for this?
