Samba 3.020 and Win2K with Kerberos 5
Hi, I've posted this one also to comp.protocols.smb, but the list seems to be more hacky :-) I have M$ Win2K PDC with Kerberos authentication system. PDC Win2K--------------SAMBA-3.020-------------LINUX Kerberos5 It was somewhere told (Samba 3.0 prealpha guide to Kerberos authentication)that this should work. I'm using RedHat 7.2 with latest patches (obtained via net from redhat site).

problem loading initrd
Hi, I am trying to load kernel 2.6.6 on a Soekris net4521 from the network using PXE. I built my initrd with mkinitrd. RedHat nash (while running linuxrc) hangs after mounting /proc and says "Creating block devices". I am using the pxelinux.0 from the syslinux-2.10 distribution and the kernel and initrd were built on redhat 9.0. I built my kernel with BLK_DEV_RAM, RAMFS, TMPFS,

RAID card selection - JBOD mode / Linux RAID
I don't think this is off topic since I want to use JBOD mode so that Linux can do the RAID. I'm going to hopefully run this in CentOS 5 and Ubuntu 12.04 on a Sunfire x2250 Hard to get answers I can trust out of vendors :-) I have a Sun RAID card which I am pretty sure is LSI OEM. It is a 3G/s SAS1 with 2 external connectors like the one on the right here :

Ghost Image + Winbind = Panic
I had a test machine up and running Samba, joining an AD domain, and set up with winbind... when I ran "getent passwd" it would list all the local users, and all the domain users. I could also log in as a domain user without any problem. So, I made an image of the hard drive, and copied it to 7 other machines. Now, those 7 are having a strange problem. I changed the names and IP's of

Windows 2003 Active Directory and Group Access
Hi together, we have a Windows 2003 Active Directory Server, working together with Samba Version 3.0.2a-Debian. It seems everything (Kerberos authentication and so on) works fine. All the authentication is done by the windows 2003 server. My problem is, that I can't connect to a share via a windows xp client, when the share has an option "valid user" which defines a group of the

Bandwidth: to seperate or not to seperate
Hi everyone, RE: Bandwidth. We have an asterisk server sharing bandwidth with other [web] servers in cabinets that we rent in a large data-center and all is working fine. But I'm concerned that web traffic could affect the VoIP quality (my tests so far haven't showed this [yet!]. Currently I'm running a server with Netfilter (iptables) between all the servers and the Internet

Migrating to new server
Hi folks. I asked this question a couple of weeks ago, but nobody posted any answers. I have mandrake 9.1 with Samba 2.2.8 running a domain with 500 users. It has worked flawlessly for a long time. However, it is time to set up a new server. I have a new server with Mandrake 10 OE and Samba 3.0.3 running. Please explain to this newbie and very satisfied samba user how to migrate all my

Large file system idea
This idea is intruiging... Suppose one has a set of file servers called A, B, C, D, and so forth, all running CentOS 6.5 64-bit, all being interconnected with 10GbE. These file servers can be divided into identical pairs, so A is the same configuration (diks, processors, etc) as B, C the same as D, and so forth (because this is what I have; there are ten servers in all). Each file server has

CentOS-6.7, kvm bridges, virtual interfaces, and routes
I have been looking at this problem on and off for a considerable period. Given my lack of knowledge I have been unable to resolve this quickly and in consequence it has been constantly shoved to the background as other issues arise. Here is the situation: I have two dual-homed kvm hosts both running CentOS-6.7 and identically configured. These are connected to the same LAN segment via
