Unable to connect to shares - Error about 'Domain Controller'
Fellow samba dancers, Before I lose it, and teach our server to fly, I think it best if I ask the experts. core dump after live migrating virtualized environment
Dear Samba- We're using the virtualization application openVZ to run small web services for researchers. Unlike other virtualization software, openVZ uses the host file system for the guest OS; essentially the root file system of the guest is a chrooted subdirectory on the host. When openVZ migrates a guest between two host machines it uses rsync to transfer the files. Unfortunately, this

Problem with pdf printing
Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have several pdf printers set up and when I print to them samba becomes unstable and several errors are dumped to the log. These pdf printers were working when I was using version 3.0.6. When I went to a newer version of samba the queue would not clear on the windows side and no errors were logged. Yesterday I upgraded to version 3.0.13-1 and the

corruption in the locking tdb, samba panics
Hello, last friday I switched my users from an old server running 2.2.12 to a new one running 3.0.10 (that I've been testing myself and with smbtorture). After a while I had to switch back to the old server because some users were having serious problems. This is one of the logs (the others are very similar): [2005/03/04 12:25:05, 0] tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_log(725)

Samba 3.2.6 upgrade -> smbd panic in printing.
Hello, upgraded to Samba 3.2.6, and immediately printing went into coma. Observed that printers lose their configurations (driver models, locations, etc). And if I reset the printer drivers on each share, eventually they will be lost again. Looking at the logs we are getting panics like this: --- [2008/12/16 05:12:51, 0] lib/util_tdb.c:tdb_log(682) tdb(/var/lib/samba/printing/CanonC1.tdb):

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first thought is that something bad happened between the server and the Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download files) and it just spiraled out of control,

"could not open file /var/lock/samba/unexpected.tdb"
When I start winbindd (Samba v2.2.3a on Linux), I get the entries in log.winbindd shown below. What's the story on all those complaints about file "unexpected.tdb"? There is no general problem with Samba writing to that subdirectory: # ll /var/lock/samba/ total 288 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 696 Feb 12 22:01 brlock.tdb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 231 Feb 13

Error was Transport endpoint is not connected
Hi! I have a strange problem with samba (currently version 2.2.4) that I haven't been able to resolv. I use samba as a NT domain controller and the clients uses Windows 2000. Most of the time it all works perfectly fine but now and then, all of a sudden, clients can no longer connect to the samba server. After 2-3 days the problem is gone and it works fine again, but I havent been able to

Quirkiness/bugs with new security patch
I've noticed a couple disturbing things in the new 2.2.8a-1 rpm patch released yesterday. smbd now seems to run move than one daemon instance. I imagine that this is how they circumvent the whole getting root access. However there seems to be a few bugs that I notice (the first two somewhat important, the last two not so important... although perhaps related?): 1. the executing user of the
