Prototype is spamming my arrays!
Hi all, when I want to interate through an array, all those pesky Prototype functions get in my way! When I do this: --------------------- r=""; for(x in new Array()) { r+="var: "+x+", val: "+ (new Array())[x]+"\n"; } alert(r); --------------------- I get a giant alert window with loads of functions printed out. Is this a bug, or is there a better way to

Rsync and opened files
Hello, I'm trying to determine if rsync is a sure method of backing up servers (Linux and Windows) whose files are constantly being accesed and are not able to be stoped they're services for backing up purposes... I would use it over ssh for making incremental backups... in my tests seem to always have worked backing up from a debian server to the copy server that runs debian too...

generating response curves
Hello does anyone know how to visualize a response curve based on a regression model with lines rather than dots. Having a large number of parameters the following formula is to time consuming. Perhaps a built in function exists to speed up the process. Model1<-a~b #Setting the scale extent min(area) max(area) avals<-seq(0,10,.1) # generating the plot plot(area, incidence, las=1)

--delete-before doesn't seem to actually be deleting before transfer
I have a script transferring some backup files onto a USB stick, which has limited space. I use rsync 3.0.5 with the following command: rsync -av --delete-before /local/backups/dir/backup1_todaysdate /local/backups/dir/backup2_todaysdate /local/backups/dir/backup3_todaysdate /USBstick/backups/dir The USB stick runs out of space if more than 1 backup set is put on it, so I'd assumed that by

Booting disk images with syslinux?
Is it possable to boot a diskimage with syslinux? So often I run into bios upgrade disks images or can easily create a disk image and would like an easy way to just boot these images. I know isolinux does this and I vagely remember using it to make a bootable windows 95 cd back in the day. It worked to. It would be nice if I could just copy the disk image to a usbstick and use syslinux to boot

Samba Printer Driver Upload: files can not be copied
Hi, I am having this problem with the uploading of printer drivers to my Samba server's print$ share: I am logged in on my Win XP machine as user "root" and connected to the Samba server as user root. I can access the print$ share and can upload files there manually without problems. I can see and select the printer on the Samba Server (in Network Neighborhood), and I can

Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory. Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

syslinux 2.06, won't boot => kernel size pb?
Hi, I'm currently trying to build up a booting usbstick. works fine with syslinux. However I have some troubles putting my own kernel image (bzImage) instead of that of a distribution (i.e. already compiled). The only difference I noticed is that the "pre-compiled" kernel is about 1.4M big whereas mine 1.5M. The Syslinux Homepage confirm that "this version [...] can now handle

I have a small LAN with three PCs on 100MBit Ethernet and a Laptop on WLAN on a 4 Port

embedded fs access?, was Re: Booting ISOs
Hello, my name is Douglas McClendon. I just joined this list. The question that prompted me to join, is actually quite timely, as it related to the Booting ISOs thread, which unfortunately, I can't just continue. I think the answer the "Booting ISOs" question got, regarding the knoppix cheatcode, was relevant, but not quite optimal. Unless I am misunderstanding, using the
