Migrating user profiles from local to domain
Hi, I am trying to plan a migration of approximately 160 PC's from a workgroup environment to using Samba (3.0.14a) as a PDC (on AIX 4.3, to be 5.3 in near future). They will NOT be using roaming profiles, as this is not appropriate for the client. Joining the machine to the domain, logging in works, everything's cool. These computers were all in a workgroup previously and had a

Winamp Issues
I'm currently working on a streaming radio server that will be streaming randomized archive shows 90% of the time and then live shows 10% of the time. The solution I came up with was to have /main the archive mountpoint and have a /live for the live shows. What we want to do is use the functionality of icecast's moveusers.xsl to move them to the live at the specified time and have

Permissions problem/misunderstanding ... "Domain Admins" vs. Administrators
Hi, Using Samba 3.0.14a and AIX 4.3, I have been able to join PC's to the domain without any problem. It "just works". I am using local profiles, and serving login batch files from the server, and that "just works". So far, I'm a happy camper. Now, I am trying to understand permissions so that I can actually use the "moveuser.exe" command from the

strategies to run two NT4 domains or merge them on one samba host
Hi, we currently run one samba v3.0 domain "DOMAIN30" with WinXP domain members and Win7/8 accessing the file server without domain membership. Then we run a second samba v3.5 domain "NEWDOMAIN" with WinXP/7/8 domain members. Which was migrated from a NT4 PDC to samba 3.0 and to v3.5 eventually. Neither domain has anything fancy about it: users and joined workstations,

Move local profile to domain profile.
Ok, I got the W2K3 resource kit tool to move my local profile to my domain profile (moveuser.exe). Didn't really work that cleanly. Even though I used the /k (keep the local account), it didn't really. It seemed to change the permissions on MOST of the files. It didn't really move the files either. It's just pointed my profile (or parts of it) to the existing folder. Can't

Migration to Samba.
Hi there. [I just asked this over the irc channel, but since I got no reply, I decided to cross-post here. Please forgive me if that is incorrect] I'm trying to migrate an Active Directory domain (that is being used only for authentication) to a samba3 domain. The network is small enough to rejoin the clients one by one and recreate the user accounts if necessary. However, the new user

Re: Samba to ADS 2003
Mr. Gowda, Please review the following prior posts: "HOW TO: Migrating users' locally-stored profiles from one domain or workgroup to a new domain" http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2005-December/115326.html http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2005-December/115413.html Note that I have only performed this migration where the users had locally-stored profiles. If you are

How to migrate local MS Windows users onto samba AD DC ?
Hi, I would have to join 7 computers (a mix of win 8, 8.1, 10 WKSs) to samba 4.7 AD DC. After I will have joined those workstations to samba AD DC I would like the users to experience a minimal disruption of their Desktops and profiles. The computers have never been registered to any domain before. Can their existing local user names be mirrored on the ADDC (samba)? Can their user profiles be

[llvm-pdbutil] : merge not working properly
Well, that’s certainly possible, but improving llvm-pdbutil is another possibility. Doing it directly in your jit compiler will probably save you time though, since you won’t have to worry about writing tests and going through code review On Wed, Jan 16, 2019 at 1:01 PM Vivien Millet <vivien.millet at gmail.com> wrote: > Thanks for the tips ! > When you talk about doing all of this I

Encrypted partition short howto
I've written a short howto on creating and mounting an encrypted filesystem using dm-crypt. The doc currently lives on our internal wiki (Trac) at work, but I'd love to rewrite and post for a general readership. I suppose the proposed URL would be something like http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/EncryptedFilesystem -- Paul Heinlein <> heinlein at madboa.com <>

[llvm-pdbutil] : merge not working properly
Hi Zachary ! If there a way to easily create a new PDBFileBuilder from an existing PDBFile or can/should I do the translation myself ? I would like to start from a builder filled with the EXE PDB data and then complete its DBI stream with the JIT module/symbols. Thanks ! httpd permissions question
I'm using yum-pull for creating a local yum repo. I have a non-root user that runs the script and the files are stored in that user's home directory. I'm trying to make that directory available with httpd. The user owns all the files and subdirs and the rights on all the files is: -rw-r--r-- I added this to the bottom of httpd.conf and restarted httpd. Alias /repomirror

[llvm-pdbutil] : merge not working properly
Yes I am the person who wrote this feature (along with most other PDB-related features). I thought about some and I think it's a bit hard (if not impossible) to merge PDBs in this way. Here's a short list of things I came up with 1) We need to merge the list of modules. This requires first detecting if two modules are actually the same. For example, if I run llvm-pdbutil on a random

pdb-mysql HOWTO
Hi, Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial about pdb-mysql ? I always checked http://us2.samba.org/samba/ftp/cvs_current/docs/htmldocs/pdb-mysql.html, but It seems to be a little bit complicated for me... I created a table called "user", but I don't know how to fill it... Regards, Kenni
