WinXP SP2 winlogon.exe blue screen to death
Hi there, I have another problem on WinXP SP2 with samba.3.0.20a. Somehow, in a random situation, once user logged onto the workstations, they were prompted with the winlogon.exe Fatal error + blue screen to death then self-reboot. When I checked out the log from windows, it said there's problem on msgina.dll from WinXP SP2. However, another user can successfully logon to the same workstation

Windows group file permission problem
CentOS 3.5 samba3-3.0.20a-24 Security ADS I can't get windows group permissions on shares to work except for 'domain users'. The windows group I am trying to use is Unix.Samba. This group does not exist on the linux box. It resolves correctly using getent group and when I chgrp files to unix.samba, ls shows the group ownership as Unix.Samba. getent group shows this group with the

Problems resolving most users with winbind and AD/SFU
Hello all, I'm having a problem with Winbind resolving some users from AD on a W2KSP4 server running SFU 3.5 [8.0.1969.1]. All users and groups in the AD domain have been assigned UIDs and GIDs via SFU. The Linux fileserver is running CentOS 5.3 with Samba 3.0.33-3.7.el5. The fileserver has been joined to the domain using authconfig with proper modifications made to nsswitch and pam.

Active directory authentication and Solaris 9 problems
Greetings, I currently have Samba 3.0.14a built using gcc 3.2.2 on a Solaris 9/Sparc box. This Samba server is a member server of our Active Directory (AD) domain called "CSUNET". When logged unto a windows client machine as an AD user I can see and access resources on the Solaris server. I've been trying to get PAM working to pam_windbind.so and correctly configured. So

winbindd running amok
Hi, on a customer system samba/winbindd is used for windows and unix authentication. I just tuned searches of the ldap backend to speedup by factor 20-200 and slapd now doesn't seem to be the bottleneck anymore. Don't know how well the windows authentication now works, since this is presently done by the heartbeat failover server. However, simply starting 'mc' as root makes

force group to Unix group in 3.0.25
Hi, I'm currently using v3.0.24 in production and all works well. I'm testing 3.0.25 to see if I'm going to have any problems with it if I have to upgrade. I have a problem with the "force group" setting if it is set to a local Unix group. This same setting works fine in 3.0.24 but I'm denied access to the same share in 3.0.25. If I comment off the "force

winbind confused about the DC's
Hi Problems with wbinfo this time. With -u/-g/-n it works, but -i doesn't. Possible problem w/ 'idmap restore' under 3.0.25rc3
Folks, Maybe it's me, or my systems, but I've found that idmap restore simply doesn't work under samba-3.0.25rc3. When I try to import the idmap.dump file I create from one of my older systems into a fresh 3.0.25rc3 installation, I get a huge stream of errors along the line of "could not set mapping of (UID|GID) to sid xxxxx". This happened whether I was using

Problem with ADS idmap backend
I'm running Samba 3.0.28a on a CentOS 3.9 box as a member of an AD domain whose PDC is a W2k3 server (Standard x64 R2 SP2). Using wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g I can see domain users and groups from the CentOS box, but getent (passwd|group) fails to display them. The nsswitch is setup correctly, as far as I can tell. When I tail -f the samba log file during a getent query, I see that winbindd is

rfc2307 - 3.0.24
I'm running samba 3.0.24 (the latest package that seems to be available for Ubuntu 7). I have a Windows 2003 AD with the R2/RFC2307 schema loaded. I would prefer to use the 3.0.24 package if possible unless there is an ubuntu package for 3.0.25. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Wbinfo -u and -g appear to work great. Net ads testjoin comes back successful. In log.winbindd-idmap I get

Attempt to configure idmap_ad giving error on uidNumber
My long sojourn to get some configuration set up that will then allow me to set a uid of an ad user to whatever unix uid I want (nfs reasons), is still going. I set my backend to ad and added the winbind nss info = sfu. Nothing happened initially in the log.winbindd-idmap, but after lunch I saw some new things in there: 83390]: sid to uid S-1-5-21-54348060-1989963526-242692186-2762 [2006/08/25

Winbindd filling log file with " final write to client failed: Broken pipe"
Hello, I've set up winbindd to authenticate local users against our active directory servers and everything works fine. I see plenty of the following lines in my logs and I'm wondering if someone can help me troubleshooting this: [2011/03/31 15:15:02, 10] winbindd/winbindd_cache.c:cache_retrieve_response(2666) Retrieving response for pid 8749 [2011/03/31 15:15:02, 7]
