mandatory profiles, group policies, Samba3 PDC winxp Clients
Hello all,
I've been trying to figure out what the best way of doing the group policy
thing is. We are running samba 3 on slackware 9 with winxp clients. We are a
school. i'm unclear on how much AD is actually supported... OU GPO all that.
so i decided to go the "administrative template" way (used to be .pol files)
I'm thinking of having the students run off of a

DOS Attrib mapping
Hi,
I have a problem with the Parameter map system and map hidden.
I have both activated, but when I change it under Win9x oder NT it doesn`t
change anything and dont write the maping on the x-Bit of group and world.
When I change it by hand "chmod go+x *" it shows the correct maping but
when I save it it`s gone again.
I thought maybe it came from the WinNT support and deaktivted nt

Libguestfs Failure on latest Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Hello Everyone,
I was having some difficulties converting OVA images yesterday. At first, I
thought it may have been a compatibility issue with VirtualBox 7.0.
However, when I went to run libguestfs-test-tool, it began failing with the
exact same error as the conversions, which leads me to believe the issue
may lie with libguestfs and not the images themselves.
To test further, I created a fresh

how to test membership with samba
Hi,
i installed samba 3.0.7 with ldap 2.1.30-3 and idealx-tools 0.8.5 on a
Debian sarge. Maping home directories for each user works fine. My goal
is now to map a network drive for all members of a group.
For example : if someone logs in and is member of group1 then he has a
drive letter J: maping at /home/group1
I read about ifmember.exe tools from windows NT but it doesn't works.

Plotting Text on a graph
Hi,
I plotted 12 graphs on a page and output to a png file. I wanted to
have an overall title for all 12 graphs. What command can I use to do
this? Below is the code that plotted the 12 graphs in one page.
# FM10 by Month/ Export the plot to Wash2005FM10.png

clogit question
Hi,
I am playing with
clogit(case~spontaneous+induced+strata(stratum),data=infert)
from clogit help file.
This line works.
1. But, why strata(stratum) doesn't have a coefficient like spontaneous
and induced?
2. When I remove strata(stratum) from the command, this function seems
to keep running forever. Why?
3. I think the equation for clogit looks like

XP 2.2.8a issues
I have some 30 XP boxes in one offices joined to a w2k domain. The w2k
server has no problem mapping drives on the samba server, however, the
XP workstations refuse. Put in user name and password in the box after
mapping, and it just pops back up like you've entered a wrong pass/user
name. I have changed signorseal to 0 in registry to no avail. Of
course, when the server was NT4, I

TDB file format???
Hi.
I want to use NT usernames / passwords from my PDC for loging in my
server. I also want to use NFS between various UNIX machines I have. The
problem is that I already have a database of username <-> UID maping (each
user that has an NT username got an unique UID when he got a username).
Now I want to translate this my UID database into winbindd UID tdb
database, however I don't know

Date in dataframe manipulation
Hi,
I have a dataframe with many columns, including date and I want to keep
only a few of the columns including date column.
I used the following command:
with(FireDataAppling, cbind(STARTDATE, County, TOTAL, CAUSE)
It works, but the date becomes days from Jan 1, 2001.
FireDataAppling$STARTDATE[1] gives

After the cbind command, the entry

Access Denied, Roaming Profile -- no apparent reason...
Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8 & Windows XP.
When logging on to machine 'A' one of my users gets an "Access Denied"
message for a particular cookie file -- 'statse'. When logging on to
another machine ('B'), there is no problem.
I have tried, when logged in as administrator (mapped to root on the
server), to read the cookie file on both machines. Machine 'A'

problem running logon script
Hello.
We have at the firm a Windows 2000 Domain Controler. I recently configured
a linux box, configured samba and joined the Win2000 DC. Everything went
fine, i can connect to the Win DC, but i have a problem. On the DC there
is a logon script, that basically defines a place on the Win DC where
certain programs should keep their files and maps on every client two
shares, that again reside on the

Check out the logs -- this is a completely different problem. Ed and I have
been working on this for some time now, and while your solution wards off
potential future problems, it doesn't fix the current problem.

MYOB Performance issues on Samba
I am experiencing a performance issue with MYOB accounting package being
served from a Debian 2.4.18 based server running samba. Clients are
Win2K/WinXP clients in a small workgroup environment, all maping drive
to samba 'data' share. Network is pure TCP/IP, no other (MS or Samba)
servers on LAN.
I've experimented with Oplocks and veto oplocks but to no result the

XP roaming profile problem (access denied)
Hi! I was hoping someone had seen this problem, and might be able to
help me out with it; I've tried the suggestions I found in the mailing
lists and on web sites, to no avail. I'm running samba 3.0.2 on RHEL 3,
and XP clients seem to occasionally have problems saving the roaming
profile, resulting in error messages and the use of the local profile.
The problem is when renaming

Keyboard doesn't work unless..
Keyboard doesn't work unless one of either ctrl is pressed down. However it's not reasonable for you to keeping doing this while playing games.
I've upgraded my system from Fedora14 to 16 recently.(Excactly reinstalled)
This issue seems likely caused by Gnome3,but not enough evidence for the
assumption.
I didn't change any key maping after the system upgrade, just left it default.
