Shared folder hierarchies, multiple groups
Hi, I'm trying to set up two shared folder hierarchies on my Dovecot installation for two groups of employees, all of whom should only have access to their own hierarchy. Any employee should be able to create sub-folders and generally have full access to the hierarchy. My initial setup was to create two public namespaces, Shared-One and Shared-Two. Each is a Maildir under /var/mail. The

I don't know if this got posted. Sorry for the double. Basically I have 4 Win AD servers I'm trying to use for password servers. I can net join others but not this one. I'm also getting intermittent “password server not available” and users can't connect at random. I've

Unable to join Windows 2k AD NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I am having horrendous issues with trying to get Samba 3.0.4 to join to a Windows 2000 AD (patched to current). As this one is hurting a bit and needs to be fixed soon, I was hoping I may find salvation in this list from someone here who may be able to shed some useful light on this issue. I am using the latest gentoo mit-krb5 build. Net join always results in NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED - this

Newer SMBTREE versions don't find all systems.
Hi, Trying the latest version again tonight 4.6.7 it has the same problem I've seen with the prior newer versions as well. The one I went back to was 4.4.15 which works. What is happening right now is there is a Win2K3 box that is the domain server, with thecompanydomain.com (NetBIOS domain name: COMPANY). That has the __MSBROWSE__ on it. I have a Linux Wheezy system on that is part of

can Samba 2.2 join Windows 2003 R2 DC?
I have a Solaris 8 box with very old Samba 2.2.8a. It would be very convenient to join a Windows Domain with a 2003 R2 DC. (saving about 1 month of bureaucratic busy work - replacing the server) I've followed the docs on joining a Windows 2K AD, but no success: [root at box samba-2.2.8a]# smbpasswd -D 2 -j FOO -U me added interface ip=10.1.4.31 bcast=10.1.5.255 nmask=255.255.254.0

SMB signing broken? 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8
Hi all. I originally suspected this problem was with netbios (which I have disabled by default) and Jerry has helped me out a bit with but I've been doing some more digging and I think the problem lies back further than I expected. I was trying to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 so I've recompiled all versions back from 3.0.11 and the problem first occured in 3.0.8. The issue is with

samba - bind : program guideline suggestion
Hi all ! I'm currently developping a program that takes the smbtree output, parse it, retrieve all connected workstations, then call nmblookup for each workstation, resolve the IP, create a BIND zone file with this. At this point, the programs works; I use system( " ") calls and unsafe temporairy files. I just wanted to get it up quickly Now; to secure this programs; I tought
