Windows printer status update fails
Dear samba admins, I have a samba/cups related problem. I am running SuSE 10.1 with cups 1.1.23 and samba 3.0.22. The problem is, that my windows printer status boxes don't reflect the samba printer queues. My test scenario: - I use "printing = SYSV" because I need to use "print command", too. - I installed a new printer named "test", called cupsaddsmb test. -

using xfs acls
Hi, we have a fileserver with xfs filesystems running samba 3.0.22. File access should (and is) be possible via NFS and samba. I want the ability to set acls in these filesystems via windows clients -- but I want samba to map the SIDs to the existing unix uids of my users, not just an arbitrary mapping. Is this possible? My idea is using the "idmap backend" to our ldap-server using a

display disk size and free space
Hi, using samba 3.0.X I have the following situation: I defined a share [lab] with path = /lab /lab in fact is bound to an automounter map containing about 20 mountpoints so that (under linux) I am able to access /lab/A /lab/B ... I want the same situation using windows. My [lab] share enables me to use \\fileserver\lab\A \\fileserver\lab\B ... So far so good. But the data concerning disk size

windows printer queue display fails
I am driving a Suse 8.2 linux with cups 1.1.18 and samba 2.2.7a. The problem: The host serves several printers via cups. If some jobs are in one of the queues "lpq -Pprinter" or "lpstat -o printer" shows up the complete listing. Fine. Connected to the same print queue from a Windows (XP/NT/98/2k) box I cannot see the complete listing. Sometimes I see some of the jobs, most of

windows printer queue failure
I am driving Suse 8.2, samba 2.2.7a, cups 1.1.18 As I mentioned recently I cannot see the cups printer queues from a windows client even if lpq -Pprinter on the cups server gives the correct status. I tested a litte more and got the following results: 1.) If I configure samba to printing = CUPS printcap name = CUPS I can see all queue entries in the windows status panel, too -- except

client code page and valid chars
Problem: I recently recognized that my samba server was misconfigured for some years now. I never used the charset and "client code page" parameters in my smb.conf to map windows encoded filenames with german umlauts to the unix ones. For that reason I now have lots of filenames with windows encoded german umlauts on my samba-share. OK. Now I want to change this fact (softly). When I

dovecot-deliver auth-master error
Hi all, I'm trying to get the sieve plugin to work, but with little result. I'm following http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA, http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Postfix and http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sieve but it won't work. As I have virtual users from several virtual domains, I added the "virtual users - with lookup" section from http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA, but now dovecot fails

Printing from Linux -> NT with banners
Last week I sent a question here about suppressing NT's banners, so that a LPR->SMB gateway running on Linux could provide its own banner pages. I got around that problem by having the NT guys create me a new queue, with headers suppressed, but found to my surprise that merely omitting "sh" in /etc/printcap did not cause Linux to print header sheets, when using RedHat's

DLMFS on OracleVM 2.1 (OEL5.0 based)
Hi List, I want to use DLMFS of OCFS2 to avoid multiple start of virtual machines on OracleVM. I want to use a wrapper around xm that spawns a deamon that keeps a file open in /dlm/DOMAIN. Now I played around a bit and followed the procedure in the document http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/src/branches/ocfs2-1.2/dlmfs.txt for DLMFS. Theres one problem. The "O_NONBLOCK" option is

Printing problem
Hi, I ran into a strange printing-problem: We're using OpenBSD 4.2 and Samba Version 3.0.28 and include our printers directly from /etc/printcap; whenever I enter a printername that contains numbers, smbd gives me the errors below. Any idea why samba messes up with digits in printernames? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /var/log/log.smbd

Reversing milking machine (console server)
Hi. I have a box (a net5501 with a Perle serial octal RS-232 card in it) that I want to use as a console server for a bunch of headless computers. I was wondering if there's a trivial app that I can run as the shell that ssh (or telnet) would run, example: #!/bin/bash port=$(echo "$SSH_CONNECT" | cut -d' ' -f4) let -i tty=$port-2000 ttyname=$(printf

Dovecot-deliver lookup fails
Hi all, I'm still trying to get Dovecot-deliver to work in my config. I have found the problem to be in the maildir lookup for Dovecot-deliver as logged in /var/log/maillog: "Apr 15 16:30:34 termserv dovecot: auth(default): static(user at zesgoes.nl): passdb doesn't support lookups, can't verify user's existence" The thing I don't get, is that if I remove

OPIE + single user mode
Hallo all, Have a problem and while OPIE seems to be the solution, not sure it will work. The issue here is the only way I can access my remote box in single user mode is via telnetting to a termserv I have setup that connects to the FBSD servers serial port. Problem of course being that to log on to FBSD in single user mode I have to provide the root password in the clear. What I would like

Can an object reference itself?
Dear List, I am not really familiar with any other language than R, but I?ve heard that in other languages there is something called ?self referencing?. Here?s what I?m trying to get an answer for: Suppose there is a function that takes as its input a value of a slot of an S4 object. The function itself is stored in another slot of the SAME S4 object. Is it then possible to have the function
