Debugging segfault in foreach
Hi,
I'm using R-2.12 on a linux 64bit machine.
When I run a chunk of code inside a foreach() %do% { ...} or %dopar%
{...} (with doMC backend) I keep getting a segfault. Running the
*same* code within lapply(something, function(x) ... ) doesn't result
in any segfaults. I'll paste the output below, but I'm not sure it
would be helpful.
I'm more curious how to go about smoking

Gmail problem
Hi,all :
There is gmail drive for windows
platform<http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/#>where the person can
access his gmail storage space as a drive.
Do we have something similar on Linux?
Means is there any software that will allow the person to 'mount' the gmail
storage and say 'copy/paste' from his system to the gmail account?
Thanks ~

FAQ Topics
It appears that we need a Frequently Asked Questions document to go with
our introduction of the Wine Fora to the mailing lists.
I will start with the first topic:
1. Q. What is Wine and where do I get it?
A. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Microsoft Windows (TM)
Application Programming Interface (API) for most Linuxes and UNIX
variants, including Mac OS X. Wine is usually

Getting Grand Theft Auto 3 to work under WINE
Hello,
I'm trying to get Grand Theft Auto 3 to work under
WINE. The game installs fine. Applying the official
patch (version 1.1) went well. But then I ran into
some difficulties:
1: The video's would not play. This is not a major
problem and by pressing the space bar twice the menu
appeared. This has been reported earlier (see
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3112).

Legal command?
In dosdevices is the command ll (2 l's) in terminal window a valid command to see what devices are there.? I found this in LinuxForums.
Now, Wine has simulated ports and drive letters in the ~/.wine/dosdevices directory. In there you will find symbolic links to the Linux paths of your physical devices. Go to that directory in a terminal window and type "ll" (two L's). You should

Uppercase directories on windows don't work
Hello,
I'm using cwrsync. After a long time of trying to figure out what went
wrong, I have spotted that
cd Uppercase
rsync -av rsync://remote/files test
works OK,
rsync -av rsync://remote/files /cygdrive/c/lowercase/test
works OK,
rsync -av rsync://remote/files /cygdrive/c/Uppercase/test
works if remote doesn't include any subfolders, but

Rails' abilities fitting?
Hi,
I''m looking at developing a reasonably complex web application, where
most of the complexity actually lays in the database and the queries
I need run on it. Some "classes" or models need to consist of an
assembly of several tables. It would be trivial enough for me to code
these queries in SQL, but as far as I understand Rails is trying to
hide the database as

Uploading/file_column and Mongrel
Howdy,
I recently switched an app to Mongrel and since the switch, when I upload
files using the file_column plug-in, the files are not uploaded with the
correct permissions.
I want something like this:
-rw-rw-rw- file.jpg
But I am getting:
-rw------- file.jpg
So, of course the files aren''t being served up by the Web server.
Mongrel is running as the ''mongrel''

Asterisk from flash with dynamic voicemail enable/disable?
I would like to create a rock solid asterisk server that comes up no
matter what.
Ofcourse I can consider hardware raid1 but.... for the cost of a hardware
raid controller I can also buy a 2GB compact flash card that doesn't
produce any heat or noise and is friendly to the electricity bill and
our environment :)
2GB is more than sufficient for a linux distro and an * installation but

sound conversion assistance
OK, I downloaded a batch of ".rm" audio files from the net. I can play
them with mplayer or realplayer, but how can I convert them to something
else, e.g. mp3, etc.? So far haven't unearthed any tools that can both
read them and write out in another format.
Thanks!
