Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment, the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability. I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the right user and the "Domain Users" as the group. When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home directory from an XP

Corrupt Database and couldn't map SID.
I'm running Samba 3.0.11. Compiled with: ./configure '--with-ads' '--with-pam' '--with-winbind' '--with-smbmount' '--with-shared-modules=idmap_rid' It configured, make and make installed fine. Hai Stefan, Hmm is time in sync. Did that server have these 3 settings in smb.conf? Yes/no/which ones ? kerberos method = secrets and keytab dedicated keytab file = /etc/krb5.keytab # renew the kerberos ticket winbind refresh tickets = yes Especialy the refresh ticket.. I see this is a RID setup? Not AD. Because if thats so, i run only in AD backend on the members. Can

Failed to find domain 'NT AUTHORITY'
Hello, I recently set up a new software to backup samba share. This software ( https://github.com/borgbackup/borg ) run on file server as root cron script during the night and save file on external NAS. The problem I have is that for each file copied from samba share to external NAS, winbindd log an error such this to samba.log.winbindd and /var/log/messages [2017/11/06 11:05:16.747449, 0]

Samba 3.0 beta 3 issues
Hi there, I'm using Samba 3.0 beta 3 on RH 9 (connecting to a Windows 2000 domain, as a member server) and I'm having trouble keeping samba running reliably. At random times it seems to stop recognising names from the domain. Restarting winbind fixes the problem, but then it occurs randomly again, usually once or twice a day. At least once it has fixed itself after being broken overnight

winbind users not getting groups. idmap backend problem?

Winbind dies redux
All, I fear I''ve become a pita with this, but windbind periodically dying on one of my machines is really starting to cause grief, and I have no idea what might be causing it, especially as the same config is used on several similar boxes which do not exhibit the problem. While I've posted the problem previously, I thought that maybe this latest log entry after winbind dies
