Guest Account causing lod.winbindd messages
RedHAt 8,0 samba 2.2.7-2 from redhat rpms. This box is a file server
for approximately 45 XP clients and is fairly active. Windbind is used
to authenticate users from the pdc for the domain DOMAIN and works
swimmingly. Beats the pants off the NT4 box tht it replaced two weeks
ago.
More of an irritation than anything, but the winbindd log is filling
with messages like this:

mv renames the wrong file
Hi,
Using Samba 3.4.3 server on Ubuntu 9.10 (compiled myself, since Ubuntu came with Samba 3.4.0).
Sometimes, mv commands don't do what I asked for!
This morning, I was in my Videos share, in the "Movies/Baby Einstein Mozart/" directory.
(I have the share mounted locally in /mnt/samba/Videos, on the same machine where samba server runs on.)
I issued the following command:

Samba_dlz: canceling trasaction on zone domain
Hey Rowland,
Below is a cutdown version of my DHCP. As you can see, I haven't really set anything up for ddns-update. While using Samba4's internal DNS I had the setting 'ddns-update-style interim;' and it seemed to have worked fine. But with bind I'm not sure what else is needed.
Thanks for taking a look at it.

Permission problems with samba 2.2.x
Hello,
Sometimes I have to create and use Navision Databases on samba shares - this
works with samba 2.0.x but does not with samba 2.2.x (tried 2.2.3a and 2.2.4).
The following tests were done with a acl enabeled samba and an acl aware
kernel/filesystem, but I also have done these tests with acl not compiled into
samba on an host without acl in the kernel - same result, does not work, same

Server doesn't show up in Network Browser
I've a Linux server running in ADS security mode. Joining the domain
works and 'net ads testjoin' returns ok. When joining the domain, should
it turn up in the Microsoft's DNS manager on the domain controller? It
doesn't now, so I added it by hand. The machine has a static ip address.
DNS works now as Windows clients can ping it by name. Also, 'net view

Samba_dlz: canceling trasaction on zone domain
Hi there,
I'm in the process of switching from using Samba4 internal DNS to using BIND as my backend DNS. However, I'm currently running into some issues with the transition.
Here's an example of the messages I'm getting from /var/log/messages logs:

installing printer in a logon script
Hello,
I have Samba 3 PDC and win2k sp4 client.
I would like to install printer on a machine globally, for all users.
To do this, I use:
net use X: \\server\unattended /user:domain\unattended password
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /q /y /ga /in /n \\server\HP2000C
First line is mounting share (Administrator is not logged to the
domain), and the second line is to install printer.

Megaraid SAS driver failing in Xen-3.3.0 but was working in Xen-3.2.2-rc3
On Xen-3.3.0, domain0 Megaraid SAS (SAS 1068 controller) driver is not loading correctly if vtd support in Xen is enabled.
It fails at the point of initializing firmware.
I wasn''t seeing this error with Xen-3.2.2-rc3 (Unstable version), though with vtd disabled in Xen-3.3.0, it is working.
Looks like a degrade problem.
Any clues?
Thx,

Newbie question about replication
Hi,
I am a long-time dovecot user/admin for my family mail server, but
I had ventured into configuring replication only recently and I am not
sure about how it should work and what are the good practices. My intent
for replication was to have another instance to switch to in a short
time if something fails. I have daily backups, but it will take much
more time to rebuild and restore than just to
