Intermitent winbind failure resolving groups via nss
Hi all,
I have 2 Linux machines running winbind attached to a Windows 2003
server in AD mode to resolve users and groups via nss (nscd is disabled
for passwd and group info).
In an intermittent way winbind stops resolving group names, for instance
the 'id' command returns just the GID and no name for the primary user
group and executables trying to resolve members of groups cannot

Sometimes users can't connect to the samba shares
Hello,
Hope you can help us out with a problem with samba / winbind;
We have samba 3.0.21c with winbind running on an RHEL 4 server. This
runs quite stable for more than a year now.
But since the lasts weeks it appears that sometimes our users can't
connect to the samba shares.
I suspect that this problem has something to do with the integration of
samba (winbind) with the Microsoft

Problems with Winbind and Squid NTLM authentications
Hello,
I'm using Squid with NTLM authentication.
I use perl script (wbinfo_group.pl) for the user authentication in a Win 2K
ADS as an external ACL in Squid.
This scheme worked very well for long time, but recently my users had often
problem in the Internet browsing: browser ask for the credential even if the
NTLM is enabled, and nobody browse till I reboot the proxy server.

winbind-client: irregular "Connection reset by peer" errors when using Win 2003 server
Hello!
I've integrated samba into an existing NT Domain managed by a windows
2003 server. Recently I'm have trouble to use the "groups" command get
the group of domain users. It worked well for weeks (but perhaps after
setting up an ldap-connection to the same server via the apache2 module
auth_ldap), there are irregular connection-losses, so winbind seems not
to be able to

shift, alt, or ctlr + mouse click not working in 0.9.59?
Since the latest wine, I noticed that pressing down shift or alt or ctlr and clicking the mouse doesn't have the intended effect.
In games like civ4, shift or alt clicking is used for city queues and selecting multiple units, nether of which work, and in warcraft3, pressing alt will show the health bars of units, but this goes away as soon as the mouse is clicked.

Performance and disconnect troubles on winbind after samba upgrade
Hello,
We have a RHEL4 x64 running for 3 years, which is a samba member server
integrated with a AD domain without any problems (we was using
samba-3.0.10-1.4E.6).
Last Saturday we performed an entire server update, applying all RHN
available patches. Everything is running fine, except for winbind
service which has a strange behavior: often we are receiving some errors
at logs, and the

Winbind Issue?
Hello, we are having this issue on two of our RHEL 5.2 servers. We have them set up to authenticate to our Windows 2003 domain. Everything works well for a while, but for some reason every few days the winbind service will stop working, this is what we see in the log file:

I messed up winbind....but what is wrong?
I had posted about winbind picking the wrong domain to this list about a
week ago and this was the problem I was still trying to solve when I must
have messed something else up.
SO! Winbind WAS working (even though it was picking the wrong domain)
I re-ran smbpasswd -j LMC -r <our PDC> -U administrator
I get prompted for the password, enter it and I am told that I joined the

Call timed out: server did not respond...
Hello All,
I don't know how, but I managed to get my no logon server found error
to go away, but now I am experiencing another problem. When I run
"net join ads -d 3" I get the following error message. I know it's
authenticating, because if I enter an incorrect password it says "The
username or password was not correct." So it's accessing the correct
server, but

net rpc vampire problems
I am trying to vampire the account database from my NT 4 DC (that has
SP6A installed). The DC's name is nemesis. The samba computer's name
is mjollnir.
The directions seem trivial:
1.) Join the Domain as a BDC with:
net rpc join -S nemesis -W WHSD -U Administrator
this worked fine and I can see the computer listed in server manager
with type "Windows NT Backup"
2.) Run

I'm having an issue where any machine refuses to join the domain. It's

something obvious, but this is an "inherited" network and based on the

Samba 3.0.31 stills fails to read and write to socket.
Hi,
I recently upgraded my servers from 3.0.28 to 3.0.31 trying to solve the
winbind issue previously reported (Bug# 5551) but the issue is still
happening in my servers.
I have an ftp server (vsftpd), configured to use pam_winbind with krb5_auth
and I see some random disconnects and my users cant login. My samba servers
are member of a Windows 2003 domain.

Basically, when it's trying to log on to a guest OK share, it keeps

Erratic / unstable PDC
Greetings all,
I have a problem with my Samba server seeming to hang for 10
seconds every 5 minutes or so. Client machines also become
sluggish across the entire network during this period. It
does not seem to affect file transfers that are in progress.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I'm using samba 3.0.4, compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7, in an W2k3 ADS
environment and Kerberos and the Winbind daemon are used for authentication.
While checking a winbindd.log file I saw the following PANIC internal error:
