Accessing multiple Active Directory accounts simultaneously from a single Linux server
Hello, I have been doing a lot of research on this subject and I'm not finding a clear answer. My company currently makes a video capture and transcoding application that runs on a Linux server. The video application mounts shares from a second Linux storage server for various users at the same time. In other words, we have: A Linux Storage Server with many accounts (for example,

FC5. Samba 3.0.23a Win XP Pro SP2. Cannot logon from XP to samba on Fedora
Hello, I have just performed a yum update on my Fedora 5 machine, which I think included a samba update, and I cannot connect from WinXP to the shares defined on Fedora. When I select the samba server from WIndowsXP, a dialog box prompts for the userid and password. When userid and password are entered the dialog box just redisplays and I am not logged on, no matter how many time I try. I

smbclient is SLOWWWWWW; getaddrinfo failed
# rpm -qa samba samba-4.6.7-0.fc26.x86_64 Hi All, # smbclient -L FedoraServer -U workcentre -W xxxxx takes about 18 second to ask for the password. (Windows is slow too.) Me thinks it has to do with this error from /var/log/samba/samba-log.192.168.255.12 get_mydnsfullname: getaddrinfo failed for name FedoraServer.xxxxx.local [Unknown error] When I put a tail on the above log, this

can ls files, but can't cat files
I have a server roark (fedora core 5 with samba 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1) with a home directory awilliam. I'm trying to mount it on my linux workstation (fedora core 5, samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1). On my workstation I do: mount -t cifs "//roark/awilliam" /mnt/roark-awilliam/ -o username=awilliam, password=xxxxxx and when I cd to /mnt/roark-awilliam, ls works, but if I cat a file I get the

W2K3 Domain - Can't Connect to Share?
I have a linux box, Samba 3.0.23a, that is joined to a W2K3 domain. I cannot connect to the "MP3s" share (all legal!) on this system - I can connect to home directories and printers. When I try to connect to MP3s as any user on the domain, I get an Access is denied message, or it prompts me for the username and password again. I am using Winbind (if that matters), so none of these

On a client running FC5 with all packages updated from yum (running samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 and the 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 linux kernel), I cannot access multiple samba shares that have share-level security using cifs. 0. To reproduce, use a server that serves two shares with share-level security. Make sure the shares have different passwords. 1. Using the standard mount command and specifying cifs
