samba/PAM/winbind/ssh
I have the winbind login working on FC5 but now logins to local accounts
cannot authenticate.
My config files are here:
http://www.pigeonnier.org/nsswitch.conf
http://www.pigeonnier.org/pam.d/
http://www.pigeonnier.org/krb.conf
Again, if I try to ssh in as a user that exists only as a local account on the remote
host, I am rejected. User msh is -not- a AD account and only exists on the

Problems with ADS join after Samba update on FC4
Hi,
I used to have a working Samba + Winbind configuration in ADS mode under FC4;
Samba version was 3.0.14a-2. I joined a W2k domain, and winbind correctly
returned the user information. krb5.conf and smb.cong have been modified
according to Howtos and tutorials found on the net.
One day Samba has been updated to 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1 and it stopped working.
No modification has been done to the

ssh login through AD solution
Thanks to Anthony Ciarochi at Centeris for this solution.
I have a Centos (Red Hat-based) server that is now accessible to AD users
AND local users via ssh. I can control which AD groups can login using the
syntax below. Red Hat-based distros use "pam_stack" in pam.d which is quite
different than Debian's "include" based pam.d,
cat /etc/pam.d/sshd

Bug in kernel-space samba client (3.0.23a) on FC5 (2.6.17-1.2157_FC5)
On a client running FC5 with all packages updated from
yum (running samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 and the
2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 linux kernel), I cannot access
multiple samba shares that have share-level security
using cifs.
0. To reproduce, use a server that serves two shares
with share-level security. Make sure the shares have
different passwords.
1. Using the standard mount command and specifying

selinux
Probably a very know problem but I fail to find a solution.
selinux enforced makes the /etc/init.d/dovecot start command fail
If I change it to permiscious mode then it works.
Any idea how to solve this?
I use FC5 with dovecot-1.0-0.beta2.7
Thanks,

"read error" when accessing a file on mounted samba share (Linux)
Hi all,
This is my first experience with network file sharing on Linux so I'm
looking for debugging advice. Server and client are both running FC5.
I've set up my home directory as a share on the server using
system-config-samba, everything seems fine. On the client side, as root:
# smbclient -L server.domain
Password:
Domain=[DOMAIN] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1]

installing the x86_64 R Binary on Fedora Core 5
I am looking for help install the x86_64 R Binary onto my FC5 machine. At
the risk of subjecting myself to tons of criticism, I must confess that I
don't know anything about Linux and I have never compiled R from source.
Therefore, I choose FC5 because I see that a 64-bit binary is already
available.
Here is what I tried: I installed FC5 with all options (productivity,

FC5 32-bit vs 64-bit
Hello,
I am a biostats student and a newbie to R. I have a question about
32-bit vs. 64-bit.
I am running FC5 on a AMD 3800+ with 2GB Ram. With 64-bit, I am
running into some issues the stability of FC5. A friend suggested I
ditch the 64-bit version of FC5 for the 32-bit. I do not currently
have any pressing needs for the capabilities of the 64-bit OS. Before
I reinstall the 32-bit

Zaptel Compilation Error
Hi List;
I think my problem in Zaptel compilation is related to
autoconf: no input file, anyone has an advise?
Also, I did a change in the Makefile existed in the
following path:
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.20-1.2319.fc5-i686/
EXTRAVERSION = 2.6.20-1.2319.fc5
Now, if I run uname -r then I get output:
2.6.20-1.2319.fc5
But the directory under the kernels is:
2.6.20-1.2319.fc5-i686
So do I have to

Firefox 1.5.0.3 in CentOSPlus?
Seeing Fedora have released 1.5.0.3 for fc5 isn't it
time for CentOS to rebuild 1.5.0.3 for CentOSPlus or
does the current rpm have the patches?
I recall last times goof in FC5 firefox appearing in
the CentOS one so I assume that CentOSPlus needs to
rebuild the FC5 one again.

FC5 smbpasswd not working

we run samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD. We recently upgraded our linux clients

Compiling zaptel on FC5
Are there any generic install guidelines for compiling the Zaptel drivers on
FC5? This is my first install of Asterisk (and my first FC5 system) and I'm
having a great deal of trouble getting it to cooperate. make clean and make
are definitely not playing nice, telling me that "You don't appear to have
the kernel sources installed" when I'm pretty sure that I do. Any

Configure Printing with Samba part of W2K3 Domain
Hello!
I've read various information on the web, including the HOWTO on how to
configure Printers, but I am struggling with making my printers publicly
printable. My samba server is joined to a W2K3 domain. How do I
configure it to be printable by anyone, even a user/system not part of
the domain? Here is my current config:

Do I really have the right ATrpms repo?
I copied exactly where Axel provided into atrmps.repo. I have the line:
atrpms.repo:baseurl=http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/stable
but the rpms that are being flagged as updates pretty much all have fc5
in their names.

Unable to boot guest
Hi All,
I have just installed xen on fedora core 5. I used yum to install xen and kernel-xen0 (and their dependancies)
I can reboot into the new domain0 without issue. When I try and configure a new domain using xenguest-install.py it gets to the point of wanting to install, and then fails.
I have mounted the Fedora Core 5 DVD on /var/www/html/fc5 and the webserver is running, and it is also
