W2K3 Domain - Can't Connect to Share?
I have a linux box, Samba 3.0.23a, that is joined to a W2K3 domain. I cannot connect to the "MP3s" share (all legal!) on this system - I can connect to home directories and printers. When I try to connect to MP3s as any user on the domain, I get an Access is denied message, or it prompts me for the username and password again. I am using Winbind (if that matters), so none of these

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 8928 (3.0.23c)
Hello! It seems my struggle with Samba isn't quite over. My latest problem is exactly what you see above, followed by an attempt to core dump. This occurs upon authentication to the system. My system is part of a W2K3 domain. I looked at the Samba HOWTO, but apparently I have a system (FC5), that doesn't allow core dumps when the PID changes, since no core dumps are being created.

Configure Printing with Samba part of W2K3 Domain
Hello! I've read various information on the web, including the HOWTO on how to configure Printers, but I am struggling with making my printers publicly printable. My samba server is joined to a W2K3 domain. How do I configure it to be printable by anyone, even a user/system not part of the domain? Here is my current config: [printers] comment = All Printers path =

Delete glitch?
Hey, everyone. I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a Debian Linux 3.0 box and for some reason, when someone tries to delete something they can't, it does give them the access denied message the first time. When they try to do it again, no message appears and it seems to be deleted (it disappears from the list), but when they refresh the list, it appears again. My file system is as follows

Problems with gain
Hello. I have a problem here with replay gain. I use it to be able to hear all my music without any difference in volume. But it seems that all players I use ignore the gain value stored in my flac files. All flacs are louder than the gained mp3s I have. $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <some>.flac REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN=-9.96 dB $ metaflac --show-tag=REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN

ices and VBR mp3s?
I posted a while back about having trouble with ices 0.2.2 being able to re-encode VBR mp3s, and the response was that ices 0.2.2 did not reencode VBR mp3s. Are there any plans to include such support in future ices versions? If so, any ideas as to when such versions would become available? Thanks, -- "Shall life renew these bodies of a truth? Time Limit

Why don't you just make them 30 second mp3s? :) There's no feature in icecast like you described. There are plenty of other ways to do it though. jack. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/

id3-tags of static files
The protocol of sending of metadata over a stream (which is HTTP) does not allow for this type of thing. The problem is not necessarily the fact that the id3 tags are at the end of the files, as id3v2 does not have this restriction, but rather just the "agreed" upon protocol for handling metadata for streamed mp3s (and I'm only going to talk about mp3s here, since it's
