Roaming profiles and USRMGR.EXE
I'm using Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu 6.06.1 as PDC for our Windows workstations. The passdb backend is tdbsam. I want to employ roaming profiles and due to the fact that we have a mixed Windows environment (Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro) I have the following entry in my smb.conf: logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U\%a Basically, this works fine. If a user is working on a W2k workstation, his

Problems with Win-Username containing a "Umlaut"
Hi! I'm having a small network with 10 WinXP Pro computers and a SuSE 7.3 Linux Server. I configured Samba to map the Windows Usernames of 9 computers correctly, but the one, with which Marc D?rner is working, is not mapped correctly. I found out, that this is caused by the "?" (german Umlaut). If the Username is "Marc Doerner" it'll work, but i'd like to keep it to

What is the default covariance structure in the glmmPQL function (MASS package)?
Hello, currently I am trying to fit a generalized linear mixed model using the glmmPQL function in the MASS package. I am working with the data provided by the book from Heck, Thomas and Tabata (2012) - https://www.routledge.com/Multilevel-Modeling-of-Categorical-Outcomes-Using-IBM-SPSS/Heck-Thomas-Tabata/p/book/9781848729568 I was wondering, which variance-covariance structure the glmmPQL

SDXC and the future of ZFS
Wouldn''t it be great if the opensolaris community creates a fs fzfs (for flash zfs) that could be the the filesystem for SDXC cards? Two main point for this are already there Sun is a member of SD Card Association and the code writting smart on a flash should be there as well with stuff of l2arc. I think that could give the opensolaris a more visiblie/ markting in the IT space and would

Where are the privileges saved
Hi all, short question about privileges. If I grant privileges, for example to the "Domain Admins" group, where does samba save them? I ask because I upgraded from 3.0.20b to 3.0.21c a few days ago and after that my privileges where gone. I did not find this in the archives or in the documentation. My setup consists of one PDC, one BDC and the LDAP backend (OpenLDAP 2.2.24 and

pairs, par
Hi, I posted over at R-help, and didn't get a response, but perhaps that was the wrong forum for this question. I'm having some confusion over the coordinate system after using pairs. I'm not interested in the content of the actual pairs plot, although the number of pairs seems to matter a bit. I'm purely interested in knowing where subsequent points will be plotted on the

usrmgr.exe does not show any Samba groups
Hi, We are running samba 3.0.28 on RHEL 5 as a PDC serving around 1000 active users . This domain was vampired from aWindows NT 4 domain a few years ago. OpenLDAP 2.2.13 is used as the back end user database. One of the problems we have is that usrmgr.exe does not display any groups. I can use usrmgr to create users, delete users and create groups. But I cannot use it to delete groups

USRMGR.EXE and SAMBA (main branch NOT SAMBA_2_0)
usrmgr.exe now successfully shows: - users and what local and domain groups they are in - domain groups and what domain users are in them - local groups and what local groups, domain groups or domain users are in them. this is managed with three new options: "domain group map" "domain user map" "local group map" which are documented in smb.conf. they make

Samba 3 beta 1, LDAP and USRMGR
Hi, I've now got my Samba 3 domain successfully configured apart from a minor detail. When I use USRMGR to try and add a new user I get "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect". About 10 minutes ago I successfully joined this machine to the domain and tested that the server correct adds all my details to the LDAP server. I'm confused, if you tell

Samba3beta3 + PDC + LDAP + UsrMgr.exe prob
Heya all, So I've finally got a machine on this Samba 3 domain. Yey. Its an XP Pro box, so I grabbed the UsrMgr.exe and SrvMgr.exe programs from Microsoft, and hoped to at least use UsrMgr to see lists of users, maybe even as a full User manager, since I can't find a decent one that does all the samba3 stuff. Anyway, I'm on the domain, and I run the UsrMgr.exe program and I get an

samba3.0.0rc1 - Problems managing groups with UsrMgr
Dear list, I have two problems managing groups from Win2kSP2 client using UserManager for domains. My Linux user and groups are stored in OpenLDAP using pam_ldap+nss_ldap from Padl. Due to the fact that the groups using the ou=Group organizationalUnit, I have set in smb.conf the "ldap group suffix = ou=Group" (using ldapsam as passdb backend). So the Linux group and the

usrmgr.exe problems / samba3.0.1 LDAP
Hello, I'm using Samba 3.0.1 with LDAP backend running as a PDC here. When I start up usrmgr.exe from Windows NT, it will read all the users (or computers, for srvmgr.exe) in the domain and report them back correctly. However, whomever I am logged in as ( including gid 512 users) it will not let me see details or change anything. In the logs after trying to view a users details I will get

Reloading in usrmgr.exe
usrmgr.exe administration works for me. However, sometimes it is necessary to reopen the domain up to couple of times until the administration starts working. Allegedly also it's not necessary to press F5-reload after adding an user on Windows NT. However didn't test it, never used Windows NT for adding users on an Windows NT DC :) With Samba, I always have to press F5-reload in

USRMGR add groups
I am running samba 3.0.0. When using USRMGR most functionality works, but I can't get it to create a group. If I run the script by hand, it creates the UNIX group and echos out the GID. In Windows the error message is: "The following error occured creating the global group groupname: The group name could not be found" The delete user and delete group functions work, but give an

strange issue with PDC, ldap and usrmgr
hi the list, I have a problem that I cannot explain myself, I have a PDC (samba 3.0.2a) with ldap backend When I start usrmgr, I can see the users and the group but if I want to modify something I always get errors like group name could not be found or user name could not be found.... so I've tryed to add a user in linux with the same name of the samba user in ldap and then it works...
