Slow writes from MS-DOS LanMan Client to Samba server
Hello together, well since I'm close to the despair with my problem I wanna describe it here and maybe anyone has a good idea. As the subject already told you I'm trying to connect from a MS-DOS Client to my Samba Server. I'm running a smbd 2.0.5a on a AMD K6-III machine which has two IBM 16.8 GB IDE drives and is connected to over a 3com 3c905b with 100Mb to a fullduplex hub. So far I

Reason for slow MS-DOS MS client writes
The low speed of writes with the MS-DOS, MS newtworking client has to do with the limit of MAXSENDSIZE (from TCPUTILS.INI) By default, the value is 1024, but the maximum value is 2048. If this value is not set to the same as the Samba server's SO_RCVBUF, then performence will suffer GREATLY. We had a Windows system hosting Norton Ghost images, but it took a dive, and our company has

a directory refresh bug in dos.
I'm very sorry, but I cannot find any way to send you my bug report. (The email account samba-bugs is disabled, while it can be found on the web page http://de.samba.org/samba/bugreports.html) Can you please send my bug report to the right place, or tell me what should I do to send it to the right person? Thank you very much! Bogdan Zavalnij system administrator ---------- Forwarded

Unable to connect MS Lan Manager Client for DOS to SAMBA
Hello!! First some facts: The serwer is SAMBA 2.2.1a running on a R.H. Linux 7.2. The client is MS Lan Manager Client 2.2c.0 running under DOS 6.22. During the client`s installation the option 'Basic' was picked up. SAMBA is running in share level security. Now I can only connect to SAMBA shares which are 'guest ok' even when I specify password with the 'net use'

Though, i still could NOT actually restore this 'mirror' image like i could a 'mirror' image of a linux root?? So, ultimately, there is no reason to even waste the hard-drive space

Maximum number of LANMAN Work Items and concurrent connections from IIS 6.0 to Samba
Hey there folks!! I have a question about the maximum number of LANMAN Work Items and concurrent connections from IIS 6.0 to Samba. We have a server for shared windows webhosting running Windows 2003 with IIS 6.0 (with ASP.NET 2.0) connecting to debian 3.1 with Samba 3.0.22 (functioning as a fileserver). At this moment there are about 250 sites running on this server. Now when we make a request

Lanman API reference
Background: I'm a student at the University of South Australia. We have pools of PC's connected to NT servers, and various mainframes. The NT servers have the most information about the students, and this information (mostly students names and courses) is in demand by the students. Can somebody please point me to a reference for the Lanman API functions used by samba command 0x25?

Cannot enable lanman auth parameter
After install samba-3.0.0rc1, I mount the windows share as usual, but it gives an error "client use lanman auth is disable". I've made the change in smb.conf "lanman auth = yes""encrypt passwords = yes" already but it seems not working. Any idea ? ========================================================================================== ¾Ç^»y/´¶³q¸Ü,

"lanman auth" question
lanman should always be disabled.  use "testparm -v" to make sure the settings are applied as you expect.  With different samba versions, the defaults may change. I don't think you can disable ntlmv1 but leave ntlmv2 enabled.  I could be wrong.          NTLMv2 is stronger.     And I think clients will negotiate the strongest common protocol.      If you are in a small network

"lanman auth" question
How old is the scanner ?   Did you check for a firmware update for it?    NTLM has been around for so long that it is hard to imagine anything that has to have LANMAN support. I called Xerox tech support and their answer was it was out of support. It is probably seven years old. It was an expensive scanner, not one of

SAMBA 2.0.6 vs HP's ASU/9000 LanMan (battle rages on)
Found the solution to my 2.0.6 dying on me on SGI - SYSV_IPC needed to be #undef'ed in source/include/includes.h in favor of MMAP, seems to have fixed it. If I run the daemon in server mode, no prob. If I switch to domain mode (and use smbpasswd to join into the domain, per the instructions), I get the error indicating that the username/password pair was incorrect, as if I typed in a wrong

NT Password did not match ! Defaulting to Lanman
We recently upgraded one of our AIX servers (AIX 4.3.3 on new hardware), on which we share documents via a SAMBA share, the samba version is at 2.0.6. Since that upgrade I have been getting calls from clients on multiple subnets having difficulty connecting, slow download/upload speeds, and getting their Microsoft domain accounts locked up. Upon review the log files for those complaining, I see

can't change "client use lanman auth"?
Dear Samba-istas, Thanks for your work on a remarkable system. I'm having a problem dealing with a very simple system that I can't seem to figure out. I have a disk being shared from a Windows ME machine (I know, but I can't change that part) that I want to mount on various linux machines. I have a redhat 7.3 system that uses smbmount "Version 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix"
