GFS + quotas
I have 2 machines in a cluster using GFS, that many client mount up via nfs. We use quotas extensively here, is there a way from a client machine to check a users quota? Standard quota command on client machines do not work like they do when checking a non-gfs nfs mounted file system. The quotas do work however, when a user exceeds quota and tries to write a file, it tell them that quota has

Login from win2k client to samba PDC
I have joined my win2k client machines (win2k professional or win2k professional server) to my PDC. This worked fine and I did all recommended as e.g. in the HOWTO http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/samba-pdc.html#joining. So far I can also login localy to the win2k client machines using a local account and connect a network drive from the PDC using a valid account on the PDC (as given in the

Win2K client can't create directories
The number of Win2K systems in our company is rapidly increasing, and as that happens I discover more and more problems with Win2K accessing shares on our samba server. This particular problem prevents Win2K users from creating new directories on samba shares. When they attempt to create a folder and name it, they get the error "Cannot rename the New Folder: Access is denied. Make sure

Samba from win2k client - "incorrect password or unknown username" error
Hi, I've got an annoying little problem with Samba and Win2k. I installed a Win2k Pro client on the network and set it to use plain text passwords and join the workgroup. The username and password of the user on the win2k box are the same as the account in /etc/passwd on the linux box. But after logging in, when trying to reconnect the mapped drives the windows box says: "Incorrect

win2k client slow with samba 2.2.3.a - maybe a bug?
This sure looks like a bug but maybe a configuration error on my part. I am trying to migrate out current OS/2 Warp 4 based file server to Samba. We have OS/2, Win98, WinNT4, and Win2k clients. I set Samba 2.2.3a up to use security = SHARE as this appears to be the closest to what the OS/2 Warp4 based system supports. All clients are able to access the files on the Samba service but loading

Segmentation Fault on Large (over 2 gig) file from Win2k client to Win2k daemon.
I am trying to sync some large (greater than 2 gigabytes) files, pushing them from a Win2k client to a Win2k machine running the rsync daemon. Both machines have the CYGWIN environmental variable set to ntsec. Below is the full session. There is only one file in the MyDatabase directory on the client, but it's 2.2 gig. Once I get this working, I want to set it up to exclude files in that

Linux server, Win2k client: Almost works, what am I missing?
Hello all. A couple of days back I posted a question about how I could get a Win2K client to mount a share from my linux Samba server. I was getting the familiar "account is not authorized to log in from this station" error on the Win2K box, despite a set-up that supposedly allowed guest logins *and* implemented the registry hack for clear-text passwords on the Win2k box. While I

Win2k Clients cant connect to Samba 2.2.8
Hello, I have a "small" Problem. I have a Network with some Samba servers, one of them is behind a firewall. I can not access this Server with Win2k/2k3 Clients. I can access the Server with WinNT Clients and I can access the Server with win2k Clients which are also behind the FW. I can see the Server in the browslist, but if I try to ope the link I get the following Error: Auf

win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when securit y=domain
Hi Jonathan, Yep, samba sends the domain name as well as the username to the domain controller, and what I think happens is the NT controller sees that the domainname passed is NOT his domain, checks his list of trusted domains, doesn't find it, and says sayonara buddy... I am assuming that 'SATURN' is the netbios name of the win2k client machine? I'm not real clear on how this

Win2K Client / Samba 3.0.4 PDC -> Setting Win2K Profile Settings
I'm trying to locate the list of registry values to adjust how Win2K clients handle the user profile with the Win2K boxes joined to a Samba PDC and logging in with domain accounts. Specifically I would like to DISABLE roaming profiles!!! Many moons ago, the WarpServer Win2K client from IBM came with very good documentation on how to adjust that client to not create roaming profiles, etc...

Permissions Issue
Hello group, this issue is driving me crazy, there just has to be a simple way to do this that I am missing! I have a share, SOP. The file system maps to /dir/dir/sop. If I have a set of users that need write access to this directory, but only want to allow another set of users read only access, how can I accomplish this? From the man pages, it looks like I can set the share to read only, and

Samba with Win2K client -- dual network cards -- same segment
Interesting note: I have a laptop with an integrated 802.11b interface, and a 10/100 interface. Normally, I use the 10/100 for the sake of speed, but occasionally I like to go for a walk with the unit. Basic services such as mail, web, etc. are basically unaffected (except in the area of throughput), but SMB goes into a FUNK! Trying to access my Samba server (2.2.6) over the wireless causes

Can't access a linux server using a Win2K client
Hello all. I am new to Samba, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have been unable to figure this out. I have a Red Hat 7.1 box (kernel 2.4.9) with the Samba 2.2.4-2 RPM installed. I am trying to configure it so that Windows 2000 machines within my company's Windows domain can access it. Before diving into anything exotic, I am trying to get this to work without requiring any

Prints ok, but says "Access denied, unable to connect". win2k and samba 2.2.1a
I have a small Samba 2.2.1a plus Win2k workgroup. Samba is running on Redhat 7.2. There is a networked laserjet 5000 using a static IP which I can print to successfuly from the linux box, and from the win2k workstations via the queue on the linux box. The weird thing is that, on the win2k worksations, if I double click on the printer icon the status of the printer is reported as "Access

can't auth against more then 1 domain
I have 2 samba servers. One with centos5+samba 3.033 that has been in service for a few years now. I have installed a centos6+samba 3.6.9. I followed the how-to I did with the first one, copied over the krb5.conf and smb.conf from the working server and all seemed to go well. It is a member server of a window AD. We have 2 DC's that are part of the same forest: SEAS and SEAS-S. I

broken GFS
This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. There was a kernel release over the weekend to .67.0.15, yet, they did not release the updated GFS to go along with it, so when the machine rebooted, there was no gfs file system in the new running kernel which in turn wreaked havoc on my cluster. I truly wish they would not do that :). I guess I shall have to not allow automatic yum updates from

Win2k clients and PDC
Hi, We have Samba 2.2.6(+2.2.7 security patch) installed on solaris. Samba is used as PDC for WinNT and Win2K clients. The WinNT machines have no problems geting into the domain as machine trust accounts exist in /etc/passwd and smbpasswd file. However, Win2k clients are not able to join the domain. I did go through the documentation, and hence created root account in 'smbpasswd'

Win2k clients won't rejoin Samba PDC domain, "Remote Procedure Call Failed"?
Hey everyone, firstly thanks for your time, I've spent hours, a lot straight days too, for the last couple of weeks trying to solve this issue. The only thing (afai can see) I've got left is asking the experts and formatting all the machines and starting over, the latter of which I'm not interesting in doing because it doesn't solve the issue (well it might make the problem go
