No access to mandatory profiles
Hi! I have the problem that I can't log in with all users (that have mandatory profiles) except that one who is owner of the directory. (windows states that It can't load the profile because of secu[global] workgroup = FH_STP server string = FH StP LDAP-PDC passdb backend = ldapsam log level = 1 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size

Still mandatory profiles, every user same profile
Hi there, again me, again similar question. First of all, what is it, what I'd like to have: 1.) Every user in my System should use the same profile. In dsa.msc I gave every user as profile-path \\samba4\profiles\stud 2.) The users should not be able to change anything in that profile (I think changing ntuser.dat to ntuser.man should do the job, proposed i got step one managed ;) )

[PATCH 5/6] drm: Delete "mandatory" stereographic modes
HDMI specification 1.4a, table 8-15 is very explicitly a "must support at least one of" table, not a "must support all of" table. It is not hard to find hardware that does not support some of the so-called "mandatory" modes. More seriously, this code generates invalid display modes for both of the 3D-capable panels that I have (a 42-inch LG TV and a Sony PlayStation

mandatory profiles
Hello! I am running samba 3.0 on fc2 in a win2000 network. I want to use only mandatory profiles in the network, but can't get this to work properly. I have set up a "perfect user" on my local machine", and copied this profile to \\server\netlogon\Default User. I have also made this default profile mandatory by renaming ntuser.dat to ntuser.man. In smb.conf I have added:

mandatory profiles - again
Hello! Some days ago I posted a message about mandatory profiles, and got a very useful answer from John H Terpstra with reference to his Samba Guide. Suddenly logging on runs much faster.... However, I have still one more problem to solve. I have set up the win2000 client to delete the cached profile on exit. The "problem" is that the user profile remains on the server in

mandatory profiles, group policies, Samba3 PDC winxp Clients
Hello all, I've been trying to figure out what the best way of doing the group policy thing is. We are running samba 3 on slackware 9 with winxp clients. We are a school. i'm unclear on how much AD is actually supported... OU GPO all that. so i decided to go the "administrative template" way (used to be .pol files) I'm thinking of having the students run off of a

Mandatory User Profile
Hi, first of all: my name is uli... i'm from bavaria/germany and i'm working with linux quite a long time (maybe 10 years). Now my "problem": my samba is setup with ldap-backend. my configuration with mandatory profiles is working quite good. i created a Default User - Profile in my netlogon-share (migrated from a windows-xp client). ntuser.dat has been renamed to ntuser.man.

Mandatory windows settings (profiles)
Hello all. I recently upgraded to Samba 3.0 (CVS HEAD) and finally have a working Samba-PDC with Windows 2000 and XP clients. Right now, I'm working with the profiles and I'd like to force some mandatory settings. I read something about using NTUSER.MAN. Can someone further explain this file and how to create it? Here's what I'd like to do: 1) My Documents path = H:\My

Mandatory Profiles Problem...
Hello, I'm trying to use mandatory Profiles. Everything works fine - but Outlook and for example Visual Studio don't. As soon as I rename the NTUSER.DAT to NTuser.MAN - restart that Computer - and launch OUTLOOK it says that it can't find the outlook.pst in " ...\local settings\..." (which is a hidden folder) I would like to keep the .pst file on the PROFILE folder!!!!!

recommended procedure for mandatory roaming profiles for win7 with samba 3
Hello, I have a PDC and a File (member) server for homes and profiles (Samba 3.4.17). For XP clients I have mandatory profiles with all user shell folders redirected to their respective home share. Now I'm adding win 7 clients to the mix and I want the same thing. It's (almost) working but I think my procedure is a bit dirty (i.e. I use "windows enabler" to build my ntuser.man

Creating mandatory profiles (not making profiles mandatory)
Hi, is it possible to create the user profiles by copying a template, change file ownership and modify the SID in NTUSER.DAT using the profile tool? We have many problems with broken profiles. This has become time consuming and frustrating - when a user experiences an error or weird behaviour of an application I can never be sure wether the cause is a "wrong user error", a broken

mandatory profiles?
I would like to setup a samba PDC with mandatory profiles for my school. I know that I can easily use them for XP (centralized) and that for Win 98 I have to put them in the user accounts. Now my question: do I have to put a profile in the user account each time a new user is made? Or is there a simple way of doing this. (off course I would link it to one profile, but this way I still have to

Mandatory profile changes languagesetting
Hi, I've set up a domain where some of my users are using mandatory profiles to logon to the network. However, I got one problem that just doesn't go away. When my users log on, they do not get the correct keyboard setting - even if it is the same as configured for the mandatory user + all other users on the client machine. Instead the users get the us-keyboard settings. Also the users

Access to Samba-Shares with "sign communications = mandatory"
Hello Samba-Specialists, which smb.conf-options do I have to set to get access to a Samba-Share from a Windows7-Machine, if the Windows7-Machine is very restrictive configured regarding 'smb-signing'? Windows7-Configuration: Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (if server agrees): Enabled Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always): Enabled

[Fwd: [Fwd: Re: Re: bt878 based dvr card vs. pci pass-thru]]
Hi Lists, sorry for reposting this, but since no response has arrived so far and my time on this project is passing by I need to make a conclusion. Do I better use my DVR cards in dom0 or moving it to a separate physical machine rather than using them in a domU? Could someone shed light on why it is trickier to pass-thru one of these cards than any other pci devices? Do they try to read-write
