Have download.packages consider non-CRAN repositories
Hi List, I've set up a CRAN-like repository (not a CRAN mirror) on the local filesystem (this will change to http in the future). R has been told about this repository using the following entry in R_HOME/etc/repositories: PMR2 PMR2 file:///Users/arbeit/Documents/clarin/Open_Science/PMR2/ TRUE TRUE FALSE FALSE Now I expected download.packages(), install.packages() etc. to look for

samba 4.8x problem
Dear all, We are using samba domain and i upgraded the samba from 4.7.9 to 4.8.9. With the old version, people in our domain can view and can share the folders without asking password and the people that out of the domain can view and shared the folders with writing \\IP_ADDRESS PROMPT USERNAME: PASSWORD. with the new version, there is no problem about viewing and sharing folders with the

quasi-symmetry loglinear models
Hi All, I'm trying to implement a quasi symmetry model for data on twin pairs. A crosstabulation of twin 1 by twin 2 (assumed symmetrical) stratified by another variable. There is a good paper on this by Phil (?) McCloud and Darroch in Biometrika (1995) which explains the method, but I've not done this before so am not clear how to code these models. Any help would be greatly

Recommended LDAP access settings for a Samba admin DN
Hello again, At the moment everything works fine, but I'd like Samba to use a dedicated LDAP access DN instead of the global directory admin one. Could you give me any recommendations as to how access rules should be set for this DN so that it both can work without problems and have no unnecessary privileges? Regards, -- MS

unattended reboot/fsck
Hi, We've got some units in client's vehicles which are running Fedora core 1. We've can log into them over ssh remotely there is no console attached to them. I suspect one of them has some filesystem corruption, and I'd like to both force a fsck at next reboot (which I think I can do with shutdown -F) but I'd also like to make this fsck not require any human intervention.

Reshaping dataframes
Hi, I have a data set with variables that are _not_ missing at random. Now I use a package for learning a Bayesian Network which won't accept NA as a value. From a database I query data.frames with k,k+n,k+2n, ... variables (there are always at least k variables as leftmost columns). Using rbind.fill from the reshape package on two data frames I would get a data frame like trg_type

Debian 3.0.23b tbdsam guest panic
Hi All, Just upgraded a test box to 3.0.23b and discovered some changes that cause a panic. I had an smb.conf with passdb backend = tbdsam guest The guest bit now causes panic action. log.smbd complains ... "No builtin nor plugin backend for tdbsam guest found" Either the build options have changed or the guest operative has issues. Works OK without guest, but it's been

update from 3.0.23b-1 to 3.0.23c - smbpasswd backend
I installed a PDC some days ago for some 15 users/PCs (w98,2000,xp), with samba 3.0.23b-1 and valid users wasn't working. I'm going to update to 3.0.23c which solves that problem. I'm using smbpasswd passdb backend. In /etc/group I have only two groups. I don't understand very well the changes related to primaryGroupSID and RID commented in previous posts. Please, is it

Solaris blastwave.org Version 3.0.23b doesn't read new information from /etc/passwd and /etc/group
Hi, How would I make samba re-read group and user information? Is there a .tdb file that needs to be deleted? I have recently added more supplementary groups for a user in /etc/group, but the information isn't coming through in the logs, all I get is this: [2008/06/27 07:51:24, 5] auth/auth_util.c:(474) UNIX token of user 11001 Primary group is 11000 and contains 0 supplementary groups
