Hi folks,
I'm trying to access a share on a RedHat 9 server from a Fedora Core 1

OT: what are all these probes from my firewall log????
I'm getting a gazillion of these probes in my firewall logs. I don't
understand what's going on here,... These all look like bootp requests
from 10.21.72.1, to 255.255.255.255.
there's certainly no 10.x.x.x here on this network, and I don't get the
destination address... is it possible to send packets out onto the
internet addressed like that?

Disable authentication on outgoing SIP calls
I am trying to make Asterisk communicate with a voice switch which doesn't need (and like) authentication on outgoing SIP calls. I have configured it as follows in my sip.conf:
[myswitch]
type=friend
host=192.168.1.100
port=5060
context=default
canreinvite=no
To dial out using this switch (it acts as a PSTN gateway) I use this in extensions.conf:

Problem with TC
I''m trying to use the traffic control features of Shorewall. I share
my network with some guys, and I have a tcclasses file like this:

tos-maximize-throughput
#(other guy''s name)
eth0 110 1500kbit full 50
tos-minimize-delay

name server problems: tcpdump shows "tcp port netbios-ssn unreachable"
Ahh, many sleepless nights spent on a stinky Windows 98 box!
I'm using Samba 2.2.0 with Red Hat Linux 7.1, and am having trouble
resolving the samba server. I went through the "fault tree" in the "Using
Samba" book, and this was the section I got stuck on. Do I need to be
running a name server besides nmbd? nmblookup returns some results:

Can anyone tell me whether I have a routing problem, or
an openVPN problem, or something else? I''ve stared at this

Doesn't work. I redirected all my errors to /var/log/messages, so here's
what I get when I try to connect Filezilla to that server.

samba v3.0.7 and Suse firewall
Hello,
I am setting up a suse linux v9.1 host to provide file and print
services to a mix of os/2 and windows clients. In this case windows is not
a problem. I am running into difficulty getting the os/2 clients to see
the resources on the linux server.
The main problem is the firewall. Without the firewall os/2 hosts have
no problem with accessing resources. With the firewall the hosts

KDE-Print almost working, directory shares working good.
Hi all,
I've been reading quite a few of the posts to this mailing list, and I'm
afraid that my question is going to look very noobish, but as I am one,
that's to be expected, so apologies in advance for my post getting caught
up in more serious samba queries.
I have two PCs, one a workstation (biggeek.supermail.dyndns.org,
192.168.1.100), and the other a general server machine

my shaping rules wont work on nat box
I am currently running the following script on an internal machine to
shape outbound ftp and email traffic.
I am trying to move the script to my nat router (ipcop with 2 nic cards)
so that it shapes the whole network and not only the outbound of 1 box.
I have cable modem -> ipcop (eth1) >(eth0 - 192.168.1.1) >
192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101.
