Wierd error logging into Samba 2.2.5 from Winxp
Hello. I have a network with a server running Samba 2.2.5. I just recieved a laptop from Compaq with winxp on it. I already have a few winxp boxes on my network connecting to the Samba server just fine so I though setting up this laptop should be a breeze but after I change the required registry entries on this laptop (the "requires sign or seal registry entry to 0") It gives me the

Slow transfer file between Windows and Samba PDC (2.2 .3a)
Guillaume Found this in the Network Admin Guide - http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/linag2/book/ch05.html#X-087-2-IFACE.IFCONFIG "Receiver overruns usually occur when packets come in faster than the kernel can service the last interrupt." I think you definitely have a problem with your NIC on the Samba machine. I would swap it out and/or change the cable and see if that cures things.

kernel question
An interesting bug in RHEL 3(which affects CentOS 3) has been bantered around for a while. There are some kernel patches(beyond my scope right now) or some echo statements tht are used(this helped my situation). The newest 2.4.x kernels have these patches incorporated. Would centOS 3 go nuts if i installed the latest kernel from kernel.org? <btw the issue is that the 2.4.xx kernels

samba3 and kerberos authentication of users
Hi all, this is probably VFAQ, but I never found a working solution. I have a standalone samba server running samba ver. 3. In the network, we have heimdal kerberos used to authenticate users for pop3,imap,web-based applications etc. Now I would like to make the samba communicating with kerberos kdc so there will no longer be users in smbpasswd with separate passwords outside of kerberos. I

[PATCH v2 1/3] virtio_net: Stop doing DMA from the stack
From: Andy Lutomirski <luto at amacapital.net> Once virtio starts using the DMA API, we won't be able to safely DMA from the stack. virtio-net does a couple of config DMA requests from small stack buffers -- switch to using dynamically-allocated memory. This should have no effect on any performance-critical code paths. Cc: netdev at vger.kernel.org Cc: "Michael S. Tsirkin"

Samba and ISA Server
Hi everybody, I have a Samba 3.0.4 PDC configured on my network. Previously, there was a Windows NT 4 PDC, that was migrated to my Samba / OpenLDAP configuration. Everything is working fine, except our ISA Server. Indeed, ISA Server was previously configured to let users that belong to the "Internet Access" group to surf. During the migration phase, we did not change anything.
