Two brief questions concerning sapply. Can anyone please help?!
To anyone who can help:
I have two brief questions concerning sapply. Following below is the
code for my example. The two problems are described at the end of the
code:
site <- rep(2:6, each = 12)
tillage <- rep(c(1,-1), each = 6, times = 5)
carbon <- c(18.23, 16.06, 17.81, 16.07, 17.26, 17.08,
14.92, 15.88, 12.11, 14.23, 16.99, 13.57,

Keep the politics out, please?
With this post, I run the risk of causing more of the thing that I speak
against. I still think it's important to say it.
CentOS mailing list is a technical forum. It is not a political forum.
Just reading a thread on bitcoins and the entire thread quickly turned into a
political thread with people bitching about everything from Chase Bank to the
Russians, and that's just crap.

Keep the politics out, please?
I understand your point.
I was just offering a bitcoin spec file for those who wanted it, no
politics in that post, and was met with resistance I suppose I shouldn't
have responded to. No rants about the fiat banking system in my original
post.
Bitcoin building on CentOS without needing an alternate TLS library
installed is new, so really that is all I wanted to do was provide a

Share & Domain Level Authentication Required From Same Server
Using 'Samba version 2.2.1a'
Please could someone offer advice in order to configure the following.
I need domain level authentication for most shares, however 1 share needs to be
made available to a
none domained NT client, such that perhaps share or user level security would be
appropriate. How can this
be configured on a single samba server.
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds

Question concerning Box.test
Hi everyone,
I've got a question concerning the function Box.test for testing
autocorrelation in my data.
My data consist of (daily) returns of several stocks over time (first
row=time, all other rows=stock returns). I intend to perform a Box-Ljung
test for my returns (for each stock). Since I have about 3000 stocks in my
list, I'm not able to perform the test individually for each

h323 gnugk to h323 asterisk and then to endpoint
hi,
we are using a voip h323 switch. the switch sends all caals to our
Gatekeeper (gnugk).
gnugk musst send all calls to asterisk and asterisk must do his choice
(sip endpoint or out to PSTN)
Making calls to our h323 switch works fine over asterisk. what must i
configure to get inboung h323 calls from our gnugk to asterisk?
any hints for me?
thx

Consistency of serialize(): please enlighten me
Hi,
I am puzzled with serialize(). It comes down generating identical
hash codes for (apparently) identical objects using digest::digest(),
which in turn relies on serialize(). Here is an example illustration
the issue:
ser <- function(object, ...) {
list(
names = names(object),
namesRaw = charToRaw(names(object)),
ser = serialize(names(object), connection=NULL, ascii=FALSE)

Please send me your puppet formatting puzzles...
Hi,
I have been working on a new puppet code formatter for Geppetto for some
time, and it is now starting to work quite well. The plan is to release
it in Geppetto 3.0.
If you want to, you can help by sending "formatting puzzles" - i.e.
"given input x, produce formatted result y".
I am esp. looking for code where it is impossible to follow "the style
guide" -

is a self signed certificate always invalid the first time?
I can't see any security advantages of a self signed cert. If the keypair is generated locally (which it should) a certificate signed by an external CA can't be worse just by the additional signature of the external CA.
Better security can only be gained if all users are urged to remove all preinstalled trusted CAs from their mail clients (which seems impractical). Else an attacker could

AW: Increase size of file-based diskimage (with MBR, partitions + fs)
Hey
I had the same problem some time ago. But here is a solution how to do that, but it''s a bit tricky!
REQUIREMENT: THE SYSTEM PARTITION ON THE IMAGE MUST BE THE FIRST PARTITION, AFTER THAT THERE MUST BE ONLY SWAP PARTITIONS!!!!
This setup would work, there should be no risk at all:
Partition 1 on the image: /
Partition 2 on the image: swap space
This setup WONT''T WORK, YOU

I completely agree (having said that I'm pretty new to all this so I might be full of it).
You should run your own CA if you have an active financial interest in your company (say your the owner). No added benefit to have your certificate certified by a third party, why would they care about that one client). Ofcourse people would say "but ofcourse you would verify your own

Mea culpa.
That was an inadvertent mess-up on my part; I did not see the headers,

parLapply(cl = clu, X = 1:2, fun = fun, c = 1)
shouldn't give an error.
This could be easily avoided by using all the argument
names in the custerApply call of parLapply which means changing,
parLapply <-
