smb.conf template homedir
For local login to our samba server, we are using posix information
stored in an openldap directory. - I can log in via shell with no problems.
We are authenticating samba against AD2003. I can attach to the samba
server from both windows and macintosh - just not access my home directory.
Currently, "template homedir = /home/%U" - which results in a path of
/home/<username>

winbind + pam authentication immediately closes session
I followed the basic pointers for setting up pam + winbind on a debian
based system ( http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=5409 ) the
member server is joined to the domain and authentication appears to
work successfully, however when I attempt to login with a domain user

Dovecot 1.0a4 + pam + winbind ?
Hi,
I would like dovecot/pop3 to authenticate against a Windows ADS
server. I've got authentication working for Samba and ssh using
pam_winbind.so. Here's what my /etc/pam.d/dovecot file looks
like:
#%PAM-1.0
auth sufficient pam_winbind.so
#auth required pam_nologin.so
auth required pam_stack.so service=system-auth
account required pam_stack.so

Asterisk 1.4 Followme Question
I have a question related to FollowMe on Asterisk 1.4. Is there a way
to force Asterisk to always leave VM on the forwarded extension's cell
phone, as opposed to pulling the call back from the forward to cell and
depositing in Asterisk voicemail?
Thanks in Advance!

FollowMe / Asterisk 1.4 Question
Is there a way to strip the normal features out of FollowMe (call
acceptance, etc), and just set followme up to to blind transfer any call
to an extension's associated cell number if it is not answered on the
extension after 4 rings? Users want followme calls to wind up in their
cellphone voicemail and I'm having some issues with ring/answer timing
and Asterisk wants to pull the call

Sync password (with MIT-kerberos server) and migration
Hello, my first post here :-),
For several years, I are using samba 2.0 with local backend for windows
stations and servers.
NIS was our used for Linux stations and servers
Now, LDAP /KERBEROS is replacing NIS and Samba (with ldap backend) will
replace the local backend .
My questions :
1- How can I migrate information form server1 (samba 2) to server2 (samba 3)
? I read the official Samba

Possible bug in authentication cache in dovecot 1.1.alpha4
Hello,
it seems that there is some bug in authentication cache code in dovecot
version 1.1.alpha4 - after login attempt with wrong password the correct
password also will fail.
I can reproduce it very easy:
$telnet 10.10.10.30 110
+OK Server. <861.2.46e6c679.jZ8QYpFmU8ZN6XIq7zPhkw==@server2>
user testuser
+OK
pass pass
+OK Logged in.
quit
+OK Logging out.
Connection closed by foreign host.

FW: : Re: Multiple smbd processes generated
Dear Dave,
Doesn't this only work if you're using samba as a domain
controller and the client says "net use h: /home"
I've not got it to redirect "//server1/username" to "//server2/username"
when the NIS map says "user server2:/path/&"
Though if it could be done I'd be VERY keen.

Questions about multiple Tinc daemons
Hi,
I have some questions about running multiple tinc deamons. The docs
say you can do it to support separate VPNs, but I don't see any
examples.
I have been running a single tinc vpn for months with no problems, now
I'm trying to add a second separate vpn. I'm running the static tinc
version 1.0pre7 (built Apr 9 2002 14:00:34, protocol 14) on Debian
potato. I did not want to go

Hello,
samba v3.0.7 on suse linux v9.1
os/2 v4.x
I have started the process of replacing our os/2 hosts with linux,
starting with the server(s). Most of the problems have been firewall
related, a topic only briefly discussed in the docs (nudge).
Some of the hosts can now interact with the linux samba shares; not all
though. I have run ip traces and have gotten to a point that is a

Proper use of SID's and LDAPon dc's?
I have two samba dc's, same subnet, the goal is to have them both be
able to answer domain login requests and therefore if one goes down we
still have the ability to login to the domain. Can this be done with
samba? if so could you just tell me generally the procedure for this?
heres what I have right now.
server1, openldap master, samba points to loopback for ldap
server2, openldap replica,
