write list for share is ignored
I recently updated a Samba server from Fedora Core 4 to CentOs 4.5. The old server had samba version 3.0.11 installed while the newer has samba version 3.0.33 installed. The following file is a simplified version of my smb.conf file: [global] debug level = 5 security = domain workgroup = CSI-INTRANET auth methods = guest, sam, winbind server string = Software Engineering Workgroup

NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_GROUP when attempting to connect
Hi, I'm attempting to get my server set up to share out files using Active Directory authentication. I also have winbind set up for shell logins to the server. That part works fine, but when I attempt to connect to a samba share with smbclient, I get rejected with "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE". I did some searching and found others with similar issues, and I

Cannot connect to shares (groupmap problem?)
Hi, First off, I apologize if this email goes through twice. I sent it about an hour ago, but it appears to have never made it to the list, so I'm sending again. I'm attempting to get my server set up to share out files using Active Directory authentication. I also have winbind set up for shell logins to the server. Two Permissions Issues: null session shares and group membership
I have Samba 3.0.25rc3 running on OpenSolaris build 67. Samba is integrated with our Active Directory via Kerberos. I do not have nsswitch running with winbind at this time. Issue #1: Samba denies access to a share set up with "public = yes" when accessed by an AD integrated user account. The share is defined as follows: [open] comment = Null Session Share path =

Problems with Samba and Active Directory
Afternoon! Let me apologize first if this is something soooo simple, but i have been working on this for days and I'm still stuck on one part. Where to start. Small user environment (under 100 users) using Active Directory on Win 2k3 server. Running Fedora 8 on a server, and I am trying to get it added to the domain, and to be able to access a share using Windows usernames and passwords.

smbpasswd and machine accounts
I'm using samba-3.0.23d-19 on openSUSE 10.2 with an LDAP PDC arrangement I'm trying to sort out some problems with adding a trust relationship. Specifically, smbpasswd is failing when I try to create/modify the domain account. Further investigation shows that it is also failing to modify workstation accounts. However it is able to modify user accounts fine. The big difference here seems

Trouble joining Windows 7 machines to Samba PDC
Hi folks, We have a domain controller running Samba 3.4.5 that is backed onto an OpenLDAP datastore. The domain has no trouble joining Windows XP clients, but we've got a couple of Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard that we can't join to the domain. The registry changes suggested in http://wiki.samba.org/index.php?title=Windows7&oldid=4766 have been applied, and a UNIX

Compiling SAMBA on Solaris 10 to use AD on Windows 2008 server
We've just set up a number of linux servers to access our AD server (Windows server 2008) and now have to set up a Solaris server. I've downloaded, compiled and install Samba (3.4.2), configured kerberos and am now trying to get it to join the AD. I get the following error: samba-3.4.2/source3# net ads join -U username Enter username's password: [2009/10/13 13:10:42, 0]

RPART - printing full splitting rule number on tree plot
Dear R-users I am using RPART package to get regression trees. However having trouble getting the text function to put the full splitting rule number on the plot, instead to puts it in scientific notation. When a covariate has 1e4 or greater number of digits then the splitting rule number displayed on the plot is in scientific notation. But print.rpart displays the splitting rules in full.

Samba domain users VS "rogue" NT servers.
Hi All, We're having some problems using Samba and supposedly "standalone" rogue NT servers on one of our network domains. When an authenticated samba-served NT domain user on a client machine tries to access a share on a non BDC/PDC NT server that it part of the same samba domain, the standalone NT server sends it a message saying "Your logon time at NTDOMAIN has

contour lines intersect
Hi, Sorry if this is already known... contour() sometimes draws contour lines that intersect. Is there a temporary fix? A dataset which causes problems is at http://www.maths.uwa.edu.au/~adrian/dumpdata.R If you try just source("dumpdata.R") image(huh) contour(huh) the 100 x 100 matrix 'huh' contains an hourglass-shaped region of values around 0.8. The contour plot

Test for equality of coefficients in multivariate multipleregression
Dear Berwin, Simply stacking the problems and treating the resulting observations as independent will give you the correct coefficients, but incorrect coefficient variances and artificially zero covariances. The approach that I suggested originally -- testing a linear hypothesis using the coefficient estimates and covariances from the multivariate linear model -- seems simple enough. For

Many smbd processes per user
Hi, We're encountering severe load problems associated with multiple smbd processes running per user. As an example below, this user has only five files open yet many smbd's running. Is there a reason for this occurring? I've been experimenting with file locking etc to try and get around it. Thanks Tim tim@hostname:~> smbstatus -u yunjeng -S INFO: Debug class all level = 1

sum(..., na.rm=TRUE) oddity
Hi all, I get two different results when using sum() and the switch na.rm. The result is correct when na.rm=FALSE. Linux Redhat 7.3, R version 1.6.1. I've had no luck searching the mail archives, so I was hoping somebody could explain/check this one for me. I will need to apply the function to missing data, simple as it is. Code: x<-matrix(runif(20,0,5)%/%1,4,5) # random matrix
