Excluding redirected directories causes file deletion on logout...
Hi, Samba: samba-3.0.21 OS: OpenBSD I built a new WinXP (sp2 and fully updated) box with the the idea of making a Default User profile. I followed the directions in the "Making Happy Users" section of the Samba-3 By Example guide. http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold Folder redirection is working, using the %LOGONSERVER%\profiles\%USERNAME%\

how to handle logging
Hello, I plan a migration to dovecot and have concerns about the amount of logged data. On a testsystem dovecot produced 1TB syslog per day with a comparable amount of pop3 sessions. The current server log to STDOUT which is connected to multilog (circular buffer, http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/multilog.html) That way I can have a look at the last activities to any time. I like to have that in

Portable OpenSSH 2.5.1p1: daemontools-aware?
Does this version implement the ability to be run under Dan Bernstein's supervise/multilog utilities? I.e. can sshd be told not to daemonize and log all messages to stdout/stderr instead of syslog? Thanks, -- Jos Backus _/ _/_/_/ "Modularity is not a hack." _/ _/ _/ -- D. J. Bernstein _/

smbd & nmbd segfaulting
Greetings, I have recently installed SuSE 10 on a Dell PowerEdge 1800. Everything is up to date. I downloaded Samba 3.0.22, ran configure (with no options), make, and make install. I created a very skeleton smb.conf to test out the smbd and nmbd daemons. If I run the daemons, I cannot connect to them. If I run smbd --help, I get the following output: Usage: usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd [OPTION...]

Reading Wyoming radiosonde data files with RadioSonde package
Hi, I need to do some analysis on historic daily radiosonde data I download from the Wyoming Univ. web page ( http://weather.uwyo.edu/upperair/sounding.html). I am trying to use the RadioSonde package (V 1.3), but the format of the files from Wyoming don't match what RadioSonde is expecting. Has anyone used the Radiosonde package on the Wyoming data? Here is a sample of the Wyoming file

mcl models, percentages
I've put two packages for R on my home page at http://www.xs4all.nl/~jhckx/R/. The "pcnt" package is for multiway percentage tables. I've posted a first effort called "ctab" on this group and a request for enhancing "ftable" with percentages on the wishlist. The "mcl" package is for estimating multinomial logistic models using conditional logistic

SSH > 4.) crond > 5.) php-cgi > 6.) nginx > 7.) Postfix > 8.) wackamole > 9.) spread >

Puppet & Daemontools
Hi there, I''ve been playing with puppet for a couple of weeks (So, I''m still quite a newbie at it) and there is something I just can''t seem to be able to fix. I''m trying to have puppet manage daemontools service. Following the documentation <http://docs.puppetlabs.com/guides/types/service.html>, I added this in my puppet configuration: class

Daemontools and holidays macro
Hi I've recently released the daemontools scripts I use to run both Asterisk and Flash Operator Panel, and a macro to tell whether today is a holiday or not and jump to different dialplan places accordingly. They are here: daemontools scripts: http://www.bisente.com/blog/2007/04/27/spanish-asterisk-y-daemontools-spanishenglish-asterisk-and-daemontools-english/?lan=english is-holiday macro:

Foreground process possible?
So I got my UPS working. I'm trying to get NUT to run under daemontools . upsd and upsmon all seem to stay in the foreground when I add -D to them but upsdrvctl doesn't. Does anyone know if there's a hidden switch or something to make it stay in the foreground? The reason I want to use daemontools is so that if the process crashes, daemontools will just start it right back up

rsyncd logging to multilog / stdout
I was looking for suggestions on how I could get rsyncd to send its log information to multilog, and I came across this post: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=rsync&m=105034709927741&w=2 Is there any initiative to integrate this or something like it into the rsync base? It would be a really useful feature for people who run rsync under process supervision. Toby

Logging with multilog?
Has anyone tried setting up shorewall/netfilter with an alternative logging process, such as multilog? Is this even possible? If this would be better asked on the netfilter list, just let me know. Just wondering... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Shawn Wright, I.T. Manager Shawnigan Lake School http://www.sls.bc.ca swright@sls.bc.ca

Row to Column help
Dear R Community, I am attempting to transpose a dataset from rows to columns but am stuck. I have tried using reshape() with little luck, possibly due to the categorical nature of the data. For example: id<-c(1,2,2,3,3,3) author<-c("j","k","k","l","l","l")

implications of running nmbd without smbd?
Hello, We just need the netbios broadcast registration/resolution and/or NBNS wins server setup, so we are thinking of just running nmbd without smbd. To help minimize security issues etc. Samba version is 2.2.7 on redhat 7.3. any input would be appreciated. Are there any potential problems etc? TIA
