Single sign-on help requested
I have a RHEL5 Server and some dual-boot XP/CentOS 5 systems (Linux
systems all 64-bit). All Linux is out-of-box, with all packages, minus
international languages, installed. No patching has been done.
On the server, I selected system-config-authentication and enabled

tcl tk: set the position button
Dear Rodrigo,
Try tkwm.geometry(win1, "-0+0"), which should position win1 at the top
right.
I hope this helps,
John

Lineair regression modelling between time series //correlation analysis
Dear R specialists,
I'm working with time series and want to investigate the relationship
between two time series by correlation analysis or by fitting a gen.
lineair model to the plot of x(timeserie1) and y(timeserie2).
Lin1 <- data.frame(
Nr = c(1:lengte),
NDII = window(ts.mNDII,c(1998,10),c(2003,11)),
InvERC = window(Inv.ERC,c(1998,10),c(2003,11))

WIndows 2008, Quard Core Opteron, xen
Hello
I have trouble with Quard Core Opteron and windows 2008(x86).
By the way Windows device manager show 4 processors, BUT task manager
show only one core.
I found that my problem is not new. But solutions, provided by those
people did not helped me.
By the way, my windows is enterprise version, and as far as I know, it
allows up to 8 processor sockets, so the trouble is not, that windows

NLS bi exponential Fit
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to perform a bi exponential Fit with the package NLS. the
plinear algorithm seems to be a good choice
see:
p<-3000
q<-1000
a<--0.03
b<--0.02
t<-seq(0:144);t
y<-p*exp(a*t) + q*exp(b*t)+rnorm(t,sd=0.3*(p*
exp(a*t) + q*exp(b*t)))
fittA <- nls(y~cbind(exp(a*t), exp(b*t)),
algorithm="plinear",start=list(a=-.1, b=-0.2), data=list(y=y, t=t),

can''t mount vfat fs on lvm created by winxp guest
Greetings,
I''ve had no success with mounting a vfat file system created by a
Windows XP guest on a lvm volume.
# mount -t vfat /dev/vg1/win1 /mnt/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/vg1/win1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
# dmesg

Samba odd behaviour on double NAT network
I'm using a rather strange config, borne out of neccessity rather than
choice at home. My internet 'router' is a Win2000 Pro box running
Winroute, and my three Linux boxen (running 7.2/8.0/9.0 RH) are networked
thru to the Win box using SNAT on the box I work on (don't ask why - it's
just pratical, and I can't afford a hub/switch to do this). In any case,
it's a

I would like to have your opinion about an issue I have recently run into
while using tcltk in R 3.5.0 under Windows 7 64bit.
Here is a reproducible example of the issue, along with information about

Failed to modify entry for user in samba with tdb backend
Hi Samba List
I have the problem to modify an entry for a user in samba with tdb backend.
My OS is OpenSuSE 13.1, Samba 4.1.21. Samba NT'Style, no AD, no LDAP,
passdb backend = tdbsam
I managed to delete a User in my NIS/passwd File before I
deleted it in my Samba tdb. No the problem is, I can't modify the user
because he does not exists, but can not add, because he exists.
The problem

Windows 2008 SBS suddenly disappearing on Xen 4.0.0
Hi all,
when running Windows 2008 SBS on Xen 4.0.0, it disappears after some time (longest time I had it running was 20 minutes). In /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-win1.log I find:
xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory
xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12
Anyone any idea how to troubleshoot this? The Hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM, currently 2 GB are allocated to Dom0. This specific DomU has 8

NLS plinear question
Hi All.
I've run into a problem with the plinear algorithm in nls that is confusing
me.
Assume the following reaction time data over 15 trials for a single unit.
Trials are coded from 0-14 so that the intercept represents reaction time in
the first trial.

Push install printers from a samba server
Hi there. I was wondering if anyone had a link to a good tutorial (or docs) in regards
to setting up a push install of printers (HP 4200N) from a samba server (CentOS 4) to a
mixed windows (98,2k,xp) enviorment. Now I have been investigating using a BAT file in a
logon script, but the results seem to be unpredictable (maybe i am usign them wrong?).
Then permissions on the target machine seem to be

Quartz graphic device can be extremely slow in some cases
Hello,
We?re receiving reports of extremely slow rendering by users who are using the new geom_sf() feature in ggplot2. Importantly, this seems to be a graphics device issue, because the exact same plot takes vastly different amounts of time to render under different devices. We?re talking about 2 seconds vs. 100 seconds here, so not a small effect.
In particular, the quartz device on OS X seems
