Net use statements hanging at execution after upgrading to 3.0.23c
I just recently upgraded my Samba server from 3.0.20b to 3.0.23c and my 'net use' statements are hanging at execution from a Windows workstation. My Samba server is running on AIX(5.2 ML 9) with an ldap backend(Tivoli Directory Server 6.0). I compiled Samba with the latest OPENLDAP libraries on my AIX platform using steps below: 1) compile for openldap libraries ./configure

Connection scripts with the 'prexec' clause
Hi all, I am running Samba 3.0.20B on an AIX server with SECURITY=USER using an LDAP backend. I am looking for a way to capture the actual username(%USER_NAME%) that the client user is logged onto his individual workstation with and compare it with the user(%u) they are connecting with the share as. If they are different, I want to reject the user's connection. After doing some

Samba logfile rotation on AIX
I am running a Samba server version 3.0.23d on AIX and I am trying to figure out how to rotate the Samba logs daily. I know the logfile can be rotated based on size but how can I make it rotate daily without the size parameter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Maurice Forte

Where can I get the Samba 3.0.21b binaries?
I run a Samba server on AIX 5.3 with an LDAP backend. I am looking for the Samba binaries for 3.0.21b that is built with LDAP support. If the binaries are not available, could someone give me the build parm options to build it on AIX platform? Thanks in advance, Maurice Forte

samba 2.2.7, Solaris 8 & 64-bit mode
I've been running Samba on Solaris 8 pretty successfully, but (like many others) have the 255 FD limit problem with ClearCase so I'm trying to get it to work in 64 bit mode. I've experimented with Compiling in 64-bit mode rather using Forte 6.2, however although basic operations with smbd/nmbd/smbclient seem to work, swat crashes when compiled that way (when I try to access

Accesing shares from ClearCase
Hi all, Just a novice in this world of Samba. I got a question, probably too simple. No problem to access share file systems and mount ClearCase vobs. Log shows access granted to NT userid belonging to the right UNIX group. Then, editing a file ( using a view thru Explorer), log shows another non authenticate user called clearcase_albd trying to be validated. I guess due to

Samba, Clearcase, and multiple credentials
This falls under the 'getting clearcase to work with samba' category. Does anybody know if the clearcase albd server actually uses samba to access files (or anything else) on the unix side? I am having 'discussions' with rational (the clearcase people). The nt user running clearcase to access some unix-side views connects to the unix side using a set of credentials that have

Questions about Samba 3.x on AIX 4.3.3
Hello, I realize that AIX 4.3.3 is a very old platform, but we have one such system which cannot be upgraded and requires Samba. We are currently using Samba 2.2.1a (!) and I'd like to upgrade to something more modern. This system participates in a Clearcase environment and we are trying to share an MVFS filesystem. Users complain that it takes a very long time (5+ minutes) to access this

Second SAMBA Server different NETBIOS alias and shares for ClearCase
I have a SAMBA Server utilizing an LDAP backend for user authentication and it works great unless I use ClearCase. When ClearCase is used the compilation time for our code is slowed down to a crawl and the ClearCase application is rendered nearly useless. As a test fix my boss wants me to create a second SAMBA server to be used for only the ClearCase server. I don't know if this will work,

Clearcase and Samba.
One of the benefits of living in Silicon Valley is the SVLUG Linux users group. You meet the most interesting people there :-). I met someone from Rational software who has the ability to contact the product manager for Clearcase. I told him about the number of Clearcase customers who would like Rational to support Clearcase running against a Samba fileserver (as they've asked the Samba Team

File locking problem involving Samba, Clearcase, and Cygwin
We are having some problems in our company's test group that did not exist when our Clearcase 2003.06 server existed on a Solaris 8 machine. Now we are running on RHEL 5.2 with Clearcase 7.0.1.3 with Samba 3.0.28 (despite the fact that IBM has only blessed up to 3.0.24) and running into some file locking issues with some scripts our test group runs. I am hoping that someone might have some

Clearcase, Samba, and mnode values
Hi all -- I recently temporarily deployed an upgraded Clearcase server (7.1.2.3) on 64 bit RHEL 5.6. With it I was using Redhat's release of Samba for that version of the OS -- 3.0.33. The system has 32 GB of memory and within 12 hours, it would be down into swap. Maximum active licenses used is 36 but a more typical load is 18-25 users having a Clearcase license at once. Clearcase

samba v2.0.3/Solaris 2.5.1/HP-UX 11.0/Rational ClearCase v3.2.1
Hi - I'm getting timouts trying to access us1.samba.org or I'd look through the archives first. Anyone currently supporting any versions of Rational's ClearCase/samba/UNIX/NT? We are currently running samba v2.0.3 on both HP-UX 11.0 (vob server) and Solaris 2.5.1 (view server). Rational ClearCase v3.2.1 on the two UNIX and NT Workstation 4 (some SP3, some SP4) We currently support

WinBind does not work well with Rational ClearCase (bugfix atta ched :)
Andrew, Thank you for your suggestions. The real problem is Rational Technical support. When you pay someone 100k+ they tend to look for any excuse to deem you "unsupported". If you don't have your default group set to the clearcase user group, then technical support will decide that thats where your problem is! I am sure you know how that goes... I have solved problems
