All that works fine and I can see and authenticate as any user. Cupsaddsmb only running "setdriver"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi All, I downloaded a fresh cd (Debian 3.1) to install a Printserver with. I've come to the bit that I can run cupsaddsmb, and expected it to run smbclient to add the drivers to the print$ share, and then rpcclient to do the "addriver" part and finaly the "setdriver" part. Unfortunatly, it is doing only the setdriver part,

Permissions assignment problem
Hey there, I am, for the first time, playing around with Samba seriously (mainly thinking about replacing NFS with it). I'm using a Linux 2.6.x client with the cifs.ko kernel module/filesystem type. I've found that I can't change the permissions on files to arbitrary values; they must not be greater than the bits specified in 'create mask' (and friends). The problem appears

Hi, I've come across a rather strange problem while trying to execute a windows application in samba. I'm running Samba Version 3.0.10-Ubuntu on Linux Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.10-5-386, my full smb.conf is at the end of this message. We have AIMS v3.0.0.3, a database application which accesses data in .mdb files and we've stuck it on a samba share called AIMS. The problem is, when I

NET_SAMLOGON issue
Hi all, I'm having a little trouble with my Samba setup. :-( I hope some SMB protocol guru will be able to say to me what's going wrong! I must apologize as it's a bit long and heavy in your mailbox, but this is not a trivial issue and i think it requires some explanations to be fully understood. So let's go! Here is my setup: - I use Samba 3.0.1-pre1 as PDC. Domain is called

Problem with Samba cutting dir listings short
Hi, I have a peculiar problem with my Samba installation. I have a directory with lots of files that I want to make available via Samba. I can connect just fine, but I quickly noticed a lot of files seemed to be missing. After some testing I found out that the directory listing was simple cut off, right in the middle of a filename even. I created a test-directory with 1000 random files in

Can't get NTLM authentication working with Samba
I've been running Samba for years to provide file shares, and now I'm trying to set it up as an NTLM authentication server for Squid. From what I've read, to do this you need to get winbindd up and running. I think I'm part way there but have hit a brick wall. I've set my machine us a PDC. "wbinfo -u" returns a list of users OK (though I notice one is missing but

Doing the same in Windows XP I can access these folders. I use the same username and password on Ubuntu, XP,

User permissions on other users home directory
Hello, I have 5 users that need to be able to read and write from each others home directorys. How I have done this is by creating a group office, adding these 5 users to the office group, and then changing ownership of users home directorys to user1:office However, when user1 edits a file in his home directory, user2 can no longer edit it, even though both users are in the office group.
