Group not found, (objectclass=sambaGroupMapping) (gidNumber=4294967295) ???
I am sure that I don't quite have LDAP setup with the proper Samba entries,
but I only need a "bread crumb" to get me pointed in the right direction.
Where do I find some information on how and where to place the
sambaGroupMapping, sambaUnixIdPool, sambaIdmapEntry (automatically
created?), and sambaSidEntry in the LDAP tree. Could someone just give me a
little hint as to where the

I have Samba server joined Active Directory domain based on win2008r2, using LDAP as idmap backend.
Recently I upgraded from 3.3.x to 3.5.x (Sernet RPMs for Centos4).
Now I constantly observe those messages in log:

winbindd + smbd errors trying to run in proxy only mode
Hi,
I am trying to set up squid to authenticate using the ntlm module. In
order to do this I am trying to get winbindd to run in proxy only mode.
I am running Samba 2.0.23c. I have no references to idmap or winbind in
my smb.conf. I was of the impression this should cause winbindd to start
in proxy only mode.
Starting winbindd results in:

Hi,
I encountered a problem when I joined a FreeBSD machine to a windows =
2003 AD domain.
I passed following steps successfully:
1.#net ads join =A8CUAdministrator =20
2.#wbinfo =A8Cu
3.#wbinfo =A8Cg
But when I check:
#id Domain\\username (I can find this username using command =

Id Domain\\username: no such user

I found:

Samba 3 with OpenLDAP multimaster or Fedora-DS
Hi,
I'd like to know if any of you have ever implemented Samba 3 with
OpenLDAP multimaster (using syncrepl, maybe) or Fedora-DS. The basic
idea would be:
- WAN link dies, the remote office's BDC would promote itself to PDC
(using some kind of monitoring script), and will start accepting
changes to the user base. Also, some change to the local WINS server
would be necessary.
- WAN link

Share Connection Failure
I'm at my wit's end on this, and I hope someone can help.
I'm running SUSE Pro 9.3 with Samba 3.0.13, and I can't get connected to my
shares properly. Valid users (e.g., for [accounts]) is set to %G, and I've
confirmed that the users are members of the owning groups for the shares
and that they are in the passwd and smbpasswd files with the same passwords
as on the Win2k

inetOrgPerson vs. sambaSidEntry for Computer accounts in LDAP
I am looking at my computer accounts that were created using
smbldap-useradd.pl -w workstationname. And I see the following
objectClasses:
top
inetOrgPerson
posixAccount
sambaSamAccount
I understand I need one structural objectClass, but don't understand why
inetOrgPerson is being used. Couldn't I use sambaSidEntry instead?
sambaSidEntry is structural, and only requires sambaSID.
