URGENT problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Inn the error: Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\folder: initializing the SD failed Does SD stand for Security Descriptor? I have a server that doesn't want to make new folders without giving this error. This only applies to folders!! Files don't give this message. I downgraded from 3.0.23c-1 to 3.0.21b-1 but that didn't solve it. It did solve the

Dear Samba guru... I have a problem when I try to remove some files on a samba share... inherit acls not working
To my knowledge the 'inherit acls' option should make new files inherit the default acls from the containing folder... Please correct me if I'm wrong! But when I turn this setting on, it just don't seem to work... In other words, newly created files do not get the default acls from the containing folder... Please advice anyone... (running Samba 3.0.21b-1 on Debian Sarge)

Error changing ACL when not the owner of the file...
Hi there folks, I hope someone will take a minute to help me out... We succesfully joined Samba 3.0.22 (on Debian using the .deb's from samba.org) to our W2K3 ADS domain. We done all the steps needed to get ACL's to work (compiled the kernel and mounted with ACl support) and all seems to be working great. What goes wrong is that when a user creates a file, the Admin can't change the

Does Samba cache it's initial netbios name?
I just found out that when doing a new installation in works. But as soon as I change the netbios name in the smb.conf the trouble begins... Everything can connect, but then suddenly the error does appear. Does Samba cache it's initial netbios name somewhere? -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Sander van Harmelen Verzonden: dinsdag 14 november 2006 13:59 Aan: Sander van Harmelen;

Using the limit action on a DNAT rule to prevent DoS attackson a specific port
Hi there. I''m reading and reading through the doc''s and previous posts, but cannot seem to find what I''m looking for. I want to create a rule that prevents DoS and maybe even DDoS attacks against a specific port. The current rule looks like this (the PORT''s and IP''s are dummies of course): #ACTION SOURCE DEST

Maildirsize automatically (re)build
Hi, Im testing with 1.1RC1. I read here: http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota/Maildir "If you configure quota limits in Dovecot (e.g. quota=maildir:storage=102400(kilobytes)), Dovecot makes sure that this header is kept up to date. If the file does not exist, it's simply rebuilt." This is my query: password_query = SELECT username as user, username as userdb_user, passwd as password,

IIS cache and change notify timeout...
Hi ho there... Environment: IIS 6.0 with everything mapped to aspnet_isapi.dll and the webiste files on a Debian Sarge Samba 3.0.23a-1 server. Problem: When a file is changed on the Samba server, IIS keeps serving the old content as long as you keep requesting the file. What I know so far: Because everything is mapped to aspnet_isapi.dll, everything is cached in the kernel-mode-cache on the

NT ACL preservation
Hey, hoping I can get some guidance on how this works. I've got a running samba standalone setup. On one of my shares, I want to preserve the ACL of files as they come from the client (Win 7), in essence acting as a file backup. My setup for this share is currently: valid users = @wheel public = no writeable = yes vfs objects = btrfs acl_xattr # acl_xattr: ignore system acls = yes # map

Problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Hi, We use Samba as backend for an IIS webfarm (shared hosting). Some of our customers are using Frontpage extentions to manage their site. Now when uploading a new folder or file the users are getting: Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\file: initializing the SD failed When you click OK (you can only click OK at this point) the folder or file is created and the rights

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: Do not show an error if the TMDS table pointer is invalid
Optimus cards with no outputs trigger this message (NVD7, for example) This commit changes the warning into an informational message. Inheritable Permissions Issue
I have a Centos 3 server running Samba 3.0.28. It's a member of an AD domain on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 SP2 box. From the W2K3 server I can see the samba share I created. Using the Security tab in the Windows Explorer file properties dialog I can add and remove users and change their permissions. However, in the Permissions tab of the Advanced Security Settings dialog,

1.1 Beta 1 Works!
Wow! I'm running 1.1 Beta 1 on OpenSuSE linux 10.2. It seems not bad at all. The only thing I've not quite well understood is this message, that pops up when I start dovecot: Warning: fd limit 1024 is lower than what Dovecot can use under full load (more than 1536). Either grow the limit or change login_max_processes_count and max_mail_processes settings Where does dovecot take this 1024

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to rename them all to begin with a period ".". e.g Maildir Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp} Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp} etc If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be seen by default? I am fairly new to this and

Hi, I have changed directory ownership permissions recursively such that it is owned by username:groupname , where groupname is not the default group, i.e., username. However, when a user creates a new file the default permissions are again username:username. [LLVMdev] LLVM meta-data for run-time optimization
Hi I read on LLVM blog that meta-data has been implemented to coney debug information to run-time system. Can one use meta-data to convey developer specifc hints to run-time system (e.g. JIT compiler)? Keen to know your thoughts on this.
