Problem with PRODUCTION machine, please respond quickly!!
Dear Samba guru...
I have a problem when I try to remove some files on a samba share... I
see this in my samba.log:
[2006/08/04 10:58:55, 1]
smbd/posix_acls.c:store_inheritance_attributes(252)
store_inheritance_attribute: Error Permission denied
But I'm the owner of the file?!
We use Samba 3.0.21b-1 which is a member of a W2K3 AD domain. This has
worked before, so don't

user.SAMBA_PAI and ACL inheritance
I have just enabled user_xattr on the partition where my samba share is
on. Now when I use getfattr I see the extended attribute user.SAMBA_PAI
on my files. But ACL inheritance isn't taking place...
When I (from within Windows) click on Properties > Security > Advanced
an then enable "Allow inheritable permissions..." on a certain file,
then the attribute user.SAMBA_PAI

URGENT problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Inn the error:
Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\folder:
initializing the SD failed
Does SD stand for Security Descriptor?
I have a server that doesn't want to make new folders without giving
this error. This only applies to folders!! Files don't give this
message.
I downgraded from 3.0.23c-1 to 3.0.21b-1 but that didn't solve it. It
did solve the

Does Samba cache it's initial netbios name?
I just found out that when doing a new installation in works. But as
soon as I change the netbios name in the smb.conf the trouble begins...
Everything can connect, but then suddenly the error does appear. Does
Samba cache it's initial netbios name somewhere?

Problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Hi,
We use Samba as backend for an IIS webfarm (shared hosting). Some of our
customers are using Frontpage extentions to manage their site. Now when
uploading a new folder or file the users are getting:
Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\file:
initializing the SD failed
When you click OK (you can only click OK at this point) the folder or
file is created and the rights

Invalid key 0 given to dptr_close on Samba 4.1 Domain Controller/File Server
Hello,
I am currently working on a solution to replace Apple OpenDirectory on some aging Xserve hardware. I currently have CentOS Samba4 AD DC?s replicating for redundancy using sernet-samba repositories. The third one has File/Print roles defind and it works perfectly EXCEPT on OSX 10.6. IT works great on any Windows workstation and OSX 10.7,10.8, 10.9 GNOME/Nautilus and even CIFS CLI mounting

Samba malformed ACL
Hi guys,
I've got a Samba PDC configured, with authenticating off an LDAP backend.
My client is trying to set permissions through Windows, and for some reason
no matter what I try the "everyone" group is always showing up as having
access.
When an admin user tries to set permissions on the share through windows I
get the following errors in my /var/log/messages

samba 4 alpha 5 with user_xattr error: system cannot find the file specified
Hi,
I am trying samba4 alpha5 because I would like to use the feature of
xattr for ACL. I followed the howto.txt comes with it exactly. I found that
if I use user_xattr in /etc/fstab, I got "System cannot find the file
specified" error very often (more than 50% of the time) when I try to create
a file from a windows machine using share test (dir /data/test on samba
server). If I

does rsync support acl and xattr?
Does rsync support acl and xattr (as with acl and user_xattr mount options)?
I saw some acl patches for rsync, so probably it's not officially
blessed yet.
However, I didn't see any xattr patches - although some talks about it
on the list go back into year 2003.
So how it is with support for these?
If I backup a Samba server, which has a filesystem mounted with
acl,user_xattr (with

OpenStack+libvirt+lxc: lxcContainerGetSubtree:1199 : Failed to read /proc/mounts
Hi,
I'm running OpenStack on CentOS 6.3 to manage lxc instances. And running
into series of problem relating libvirt and lxc interaction.
For example, libvirt_lxc segfault (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=874549) which has an upstream
fix. And another bugs such as fail to start when SELinux disabled.
Finally, I decides to adopt libvirt 0.10.2, self compiled

Again on NT ACLs and Samba re-share of NFS or SMB mount
Hi all,
I spent the past days reading the mailing list archive, but still I have
some questions to ask. Moreover, a detailed report of what I attempted
can be useful for others.
Goal: having a remote SMB or NFS share, mount it locally and re-share it
using SAMBA. The remote SMB/NFS share will _not_ be directly used by
users; it will be used only through the local samba "proxy". NT

YASP (Yet Another Samba Problem)
When I attmept to mount a PC (W2K) share via my fstab, I get the
following error message on the mount:
"Unknown parameter encountered 'file'"
Truth be told , samba is becoming more and more frustrating. The only
thing I have been able to successfully do is to make visible my NFS
mount point across my file server to my W2K machine. I am running SuSE

I checked filesystems, and there is a difference:
dc3 = ext4
dc4/dc2 = xfs
But ext4/xfs should both support acl and user_xattr
Problem dc3 is mounted like:

I don't see the problem...
But I DO get
